Hi, are you doomscrolling? I know the presidential debate is historically important for a variety of reasons, and you want to be informed about the world. You also deserve enough time to rest and recover. Make an effort to get enough sleep, and charge your phone outside of your bedroom.
Combination of:
-reading a physical book for 15-30 minutes
-deep breathing
-blackout blinds
-eye mask
-white noise
-earplugs
-thinking of words that start with the same letter or various countries and cities to bore my brain
I wonder if there was ever a time when these sorts of debates actually informed viewers about policy positions, or if it has always been like this and we just don't remember.
Prior to the internet and 24/7 news you might realistically almost never hear a candidate/president speak outside of bite sized clips on nightly news and what you read in the paper. It was a chance to see both speak for an extended period of time about their positions and get a feel for them.
I had to be told by Bluesky that the Presidential Debate is happening today.
I won't be tuning in anyways for a number of reasons, one of which is ONE OF 'EM IS A CONVICTED FELON WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FINES, HOW THE HELL DID HE EVEN MAKE IT TO THAT STAGE WITHOUT GETTING TACKLED!?!?
It's living hell. I am in a state of goddamn shock. I can't believe any human on this planet would vote for tRump under any circumstances & anyone that will is as evil as he is.
Will do - just waiting for a family member's flight to land at their destination - flight was delayed 3 hours. I will need to sleep with the phone nearby because of that.
Tomorrow after work, I will avoid the interwebs and sew.
