First day trying to go into the office (now 11 days post Covid). It’s 2.30pm and I came home and will now nap. This isn’t good.

For the astronomers! 🔭👩‍🔬
Fun surprise for me yesterday - publishers sent me copies of Astronomer's Library now available in German! (Link to English version: www.amazon.com/Astronomers-...)

Also book related - updated my "Writing" page on my website to include some of the awesome reviews (klmasters.sites.haverford.edu/writing/). Publisher tells me reviews on Amazon help a lot. If you got the book and could review it that would be awesome: www.amazon.com/Astronomers-...

Excellent demonstration of reasons why teaching uncertainty in measurements are really important for all students not just future scientists…

Every summer I say I will do my Professional Activity Form (due early June) earlier... and yet here I am in mid-July doing it. Again. I do find it useful to update my CV annually. Not sure anyone looks at it though.

Dear R1 colleagues - don't be assholes and drop colleagues at PUIs from your papers because you didn't take the time to help us be engaged. Yes we get busy in the academic year - news flash - you do to!

Agree that mine have been beautiful this year after a lame couple of years. I think it’s partly the contrast with that that has made them impress this year.
“This might be the best year for hydrangeas that I’ve seen in at least the last decade,” one Massachusetts gardener said. The flowers have become a quintessential attraction for many towns on the Eastern Seaboard. Here’s what to know before they’re gone.

Hey motherfuckers, just found out my kid had post-viral myocarditis from COVID in 2022! Discovered because of constant fatigue and dizziness when standing. They now use a cane. COVID is surging again so do the damn things! I know they suck but not as much as giving someone else a heart condition.

This covid recovery is not to be sniffed at. I’m 12 days out from start of my second bout (5 days since negative test) and absolutely worn out from a minuscule amount of work and a short drive to pick up family at airport. Sigh.
