As a lawyer, how do you feel about them prosecuting it if he has never offended before? I could not see him getting actual jail time? (Hope he does tho!)

If it's punishable for imprisonment over 2 years or so you can guess it's a felony.

wow, according to the release he apparently fraudulently got his credentials reinstated at the hospital despite not actually working there so he could do this. Getting out of HIPAA and into CFAA territory there

dunno if that's what they're charging him with but basically (not a lawyer) if he got his computer login reinstated to their system under false pretenses they could be charging him with computer hacking

What the other commentator said. The charging statute is pure criminal HIPAA. I have never seen it in my career. It’s not the kind of thing that I get appointed on to do federal public defense.
