What's extra wild about this is that graveyards are basically just parks. Most are open to the public, and you can go there just to hang out if you want. (Obviously, be respectful if mourners are visiting and don't go during a burial.) They're more useful than golf courses based on that alone.

Something that I learned the hard way are the ups and downs of the spiritual path. It's not always meant to be easy, and sometimes it's our spirit allies/mentors who are placing the obstacles in our path because they know it'll make us stronger. It's always worth the effort, but can be a surprise.

As someone who aggressively loves both reading and writing, the only point I will make on the current discourse is this: Any reading is better than no reading when it comes to improving literacy. Don't let anyone shame you for reading what you love, and don't yuck anyone else's yum in the process.

I think we, as a society, sometimes forget that our education system is crap in some places and doesn't encourage literacy in our youth. Some people are turned off by the classics because they don't know how to read them yet! And if you shame them for it, they'll likely never try.

We should cheer people on for reading for pleasure. Imagine that! For all the faults in the world, there are still people who read for the fun of it. Shaming people for what they read instead of encouraging them to read outside their comfort zone is the fastest way stop people from reading at all.

I can just imagine. 😬 From what I've heard from my older peers, it was a very restrictive, repressive time. Any deviation from the norm was considered a threat. I mean, look at Damien Echols; he was charged with a murder he didn't do just because he aligned himself with the occult.
