sad news - Duke University decided to dump their herbarium, which has over 800,000 plant specimens, one of the largest among in America, and includes many type specimens of Lady Gaga ferns. What a shame. Please stop Duke admins for making this horrible mistake!!

when I was an angsty teen I was really into The Crow and one of the quotes from that book is, "To the living one owes respect; to the dead one owes only truth" and I think about it every time a powerful ghoul dies.

Mainstream media tripping all over themselves to paint Kissinger as some noble titan of diplomacy, while Rolling stone comes in cool as hell 💅

Once again I am BEGGING the New York Times to stop including cookbooks and guides on the middle grade and YA fiction lists. That’s 4 coveted slots this week! We need a youth nonfiction list, like, yesterday.

Well that’s not good

Years ago, I tweeted that I’d love to work on a nonfiction picture book about the moon, and how different animals react to its cycles. Today, I’m holding that book in my hands! Thank you, Melissa Stewart and Jessica Lanan for making THANK YOU, MOON a reality. And easily my favorite Twitter moment 🌙

A kid at school disparagingly told my stepson his sparkly rain boots were “for girls” and now I’m seething with rage! Anyone have ideas for good comebacks he can use in the moment if it happens again?
