What the hell are Skybucks? Just got a random DM offering me some. I'm assuming it's some sort of scam, but usually these are tied to things I've actually heard of?
Bluesky is nice and all but I really do miss Aussie basketball Twitter. Nobody from there over here. None of the news or discussion. And particularly hearing about this - two days late - it'd be nice to be a part of all that right now. #NBL25nbl.com.au/news/vale-co...
RIP, Roger Corman, a true film great, and absolutely the only one to also have about 20 different executive produced and/or directed films appear on MST3K.
Are there people who actually enjoy the Three Stooges? Going through some of the shorts on the Indicator Columbia Noir sets and they're absolutely terrible. #filmsky 📽️
@nodunayo.bsky.social@thestorygraph.com Why are the recommendations on the home page only survey-sourced, instead of including picks from "based on your reading" or "similar users" as well?
Especially irritating since the survey doesn't even include the types of books I most like reading.
What a titanic force in film scholarship we have lost with the passing of David Bordwell. He was among the first to see the potential of blogging, and he used it to spread his love of film as art. And no one was kinder to fledgling writers. Deepest condolences to Kristin Thompson and his family.
@kenwhite.bsky.social Four to sixty years seems like a wide enough range to be a waste of time actually putting any numbers in there anywhere? What's going on here?
$650 MILLION SPENT ON VANITY SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS THIS YEAR BY LOTS OF COMPANIES WHO SAY THEY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY THEIR WORKERS A LIVING WAGE.
@nodunayo.bsky.social@thestorygraph.com Why have I been waiting over a week for my Goodreads data to import? Surely this should be an automated process that takes seconds to do?
Shout-out to Criterion Channel's collection of Guy Maddin and Dustin Guy Defa shorts for helping me absolutely ruin my Letterboxd averages in the first week of the year.
So now Bluesky refreshes and sends me to the top every time I change feed as well as every time I open the app? Looking forward to just seeing the same two posts over and over.
Enjoying Christmas lunch hearing about the employee my mother definitely knows of who identifies as a cat and has required litter boxes to be installed in the work bathrooms.
My least favourite thing about this app is every time I leave it for five minutes it reloads and sends me to the top of all my feeds. So I just end up reading the same things over and over. Or I'll click on a link in a post, read it, then not be able to find the post again.
Apparently all my software is going to stop working unless I upgrade to Windows 10, but the free upgrade option is no longer available so it'll cost me $200 to do so. Brilliant.
Cataloguing my physical book collection in Calibre, constantly being stymied by Dymocks's habit of putting price stickers over the back-cover ISBN and the number of books in my collection that were printed before ISBN was even a thing.
