Pelosi's held this mindset for a long time and it is in fact the same mindset held by legacy Democrats across the country, though best illustrated in Florida right now. Legacy Dems think the job is to get Republicans to vote for Democrats. The job is to get people to STOP BEING REPUBLICANS

🔩 and just like that we are back in the arctic on a ship stuck in the ice. Victor basically called the crew too chicken to carry on and on those fighting words I stop and do not rush ahead to read.

🔩 Chapter 23 still. The creature goes to a village and steals their store of winter food and goes off into the wilderness. The books says the villagers were happy because he was going out onto the ocean but THEIR FOOD IS GONE. They will die without that food. Here is the real tragedy on the story.

🔩 I’ve fallen behind but I’m catching up, much like Victor chasing his creation across the frozen oceans of the north. Chapter 23 he just gets sled dogs and drives them. No training or prior skill required. Bullshit, there’s no way he was able to drive sled dogs effectively with zero training.

🔩 Chapter 18: Henry is very touching to V “I’d rather be with you … hasten then, my good friend, to return, that I may again feel myself somewhat at home”. I don’t know that Vic can repay the kindness, or even appreciate Henry.

🔩 Chapter 15: the creature has finally made his request (demand?) that VF make him a companion. Questions: this makes me think of parents who have another child hoping for a donor for an older very sick child—how does the child feel growing knowing they only exist to save the life of another? 1/?

🔩When the creature narrates it’s so much easier to read than when Vic is talking.

🔩Sunday is Chapter 9 and we meet “the monster”. VF is all prepared to fight him, despite the difference in size, Foghorn Leghorn style. The ableism and beauty-is-good-and-holy is strong in this chapter and bodes to be stronger in the next. Buckle up.
