Quality of AI generative content aside, I am just SO thoroughly uninterested in things that are not made by people. All my favorite media is the stuff where you can tell that a person made specific decisions while making it. I want to feel a different person's personality present in it
For this reason I'm SO into weird ROM hacks of popular games. I love love love seeing what one person thought would be cool to add to this established creation and how they went about doing it. I even love when they have terrible writing because that tells me something about the creator
And ROM hacks are one of those fun bits of media where there's no money to be made from them, it's all work done out of love for the source material or the ideas the creator is adding. Which is the very opposite of the objective with pretty much every AI-based creation I can think of.
It's just more fun for me to appreciate the type of person that made the media that I consume, regardless of quality, and AI generation just cannot provide that.
Selling media has always required a connection with the artist behind it. It’s why bands do meet and greets and actors do talk show appearances. Social media has brought that forward and required creatives to facilitate parasocial relationships on the part of their fans.
Art without artist… lol.
It's like a post I saw before, if they used AI they want to take the lazy convenient route. Why support someone if they are not passionate about their own work? The creative process is everything, it's the most fun part.
I tried AI and it made art instantly boring. There's no involvement in it.
The lack of that exact quality in AI generated content is exactly why my eyes just fall off AI generated content. It is inauthentic in such a fundamental and sweeping way that it is impossible to focus on.
