I'll be reposting this all month. You should know the Boskovitch fan, and so should all your friends. it's incredible art history as well as Queer history.

Untitled (Portrait Of Ross in LA) Pride is a riot.

This, Boskovitch Fan, and Keith Haring's Unfinished Painting all hit me extra hard.

I had a friend who I lost in the 90’s. His partner died first and his parents, who had disowned their son demanded all the art they collected over the years. It was so cruel
Avatar
I am so, so sorry. both for your loss and what he was put through.

I fought for years to get rights for LGBTQ+ folks. I never thought we could have to fight all over again but we will if Trump gets in office again
Avatar
oh my god I've never heard of this. that's heartbreaking.

there's so much art that came from that time, and all of it is Intense. I'll post more this month and try to include the phrase "Pride is a riot"

my heart breaks every time. that one's next i believe.

I nearly shared it reflexively but I don’t want to step on what you’re doing here. It’s important.

the more people who know, the better. I'd rather people know than have it all concentrated in my posts 💕

Wow. Darkness visible but so intimate. Makes me think too of Gonzalez-Torres.

I can only look at this in ten second increments

they're always brutal. I'm glad it hits people this way, it means we care.

Thank you for sharing. I didn’t know about this and now I’m going to cry and share these places

I'M....I'M NOT CRYING. YOUR CRYING 😭😭😭

i am absolutely crying, we can do it together.

Good. I need a cry partner and a hug

It's so fucking powerful. And hits squarely in the gut like it should. When we lost my cousin's partner to AIDS, it wasn't enough that his family told him he was being punished by God. No, they had to make my cousin BUY BACK the shared fucking home from them because it had been in Kurt's name.

I will never, never forgive them or any of the others like them. These AIDS memorial art pieces are such a personal, rage filled scream and I feel so seen and validated in how it felt, even though I cry every time I think about them.

Thanks. We lost so many people, it's really hard to wrap your brain around it. And I'm just old enough as an elder millennial that it didn't affect my peers but it ravaged my older queer family.

I love that we're seeing more organized efforts to preserve what we can, like with the discovery and preservation of Paud's Pins.

I did not know about this and am now on the verge of tears. Thank you for sharing.

on of my favorite pieces of art, I think about it constantly
Avatar
I just learned about this piece last month. Devastating.
