I'll be reposting this all month.
You should know the Boskovitch fan, and so should all your friends. it's incredible art history as well as Queer history.
I had a friend who I lost in the 90’s. His partner died first and his parents, who had disowned their son demanded all the art they collected over the years. It was so cruel
It's so fucking powerful. And hits squarely in the gut like it should.
When we lost my cousin's partner to AIDS, it wasn't enough that his family told him he was being punished by God. No, they had to make my cousin BUY BACK the shared fucking home from them because it had been in Kurt's name.
I will never, never forgive them or any of the others like them.
These AIDS memorial art pieces are such a personal, rage filled scream and I feel so seen and validated in how it felt, even though I cry every time I think about them.
Thanks. We lost so many people, it's really hard to wrap your brain around it. And I'm just old enough as an elder millennial that it didn't affect my peers but it ravaged my older queer family.
