Swiss Re did a study where they estimated that if Hurricane Andrew happened again and hit Miami, it would cost in the neighborhood of a quarter trillion dollars.
That was in 2017, so that number has gone nowhere but up.
The terrible federal response in 2005 helped lead to the 2006 blue wave, and a good response to Hurricane Sandy helped Obama in 2012. But I am very concerned that no matter how good Biden's FEMA is this season, Gulf Coast governors will work to undermine it and him.
I just don't see any chance in hell that someone like Abbott or DeSantis will put politics aside in a disaster this time. Only Roy Cooper would, and I don't wish a deadly hurricane on my dear state.
