Nerdy but probably not as nerdy as you. Dad to a cute kid. Husband to a cute wife. Good at a lot of things. Toad enthusiast.

Still haven’t seen a Cybertruck in real life, but I did spot a Fisker Ocean today and that felt like spotting a unicorn.

Me: here’s a nice $200 cat tower made with all-natural materials and a $100 hand-woven wool cat bed. Cat:

Every time I come across this frog I am sad that it’s not classified as a toad, because Toad Facts would be so excited about it.
oh to be a Mossy Frog, happily crouching invisible amongst forest leaves and debris

Toad Facts reached 400+ followers last week, just slightly behind its Mastodon account which has been around for a year longer. Today it had its first 100+ like post, an order of magnitude more than any post on Mastodon. We'll catch up to Twitter eventually.

This is awesome! Just last week I built a Millennium Falcon from the Magical Unicorn 31140 kit using the MOC instructions at rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-145..., which was a lot of fun. Also, it's only $10. This colorful build of the 75192 kit is fantastic, but probably out of my budget.
Using the official instructions and bricks from their own collection, a father & son team built a colorful DIY version of Lego’s massive Millennium Falcon (7541 pieces, $830 MSRP). Much better than that dingy gray! [kottke.org]

I loved the fact that this guy’s name was “Sol Light”.

I just noticed that QR Code generation has finally been removed from the Google Charts API and got a sad. It was a reliable way to create a QR code that wasn't hiding someone else's tracking crap in it. Oh look, here's a different one that looks like it doesn't suck. goqr.me/api/

The main reason I wanted DMs on BlueSky was so I could share posts with @chieflotsahair.bsky.social privately, and I can’t find a way to do that easily and it’s irking me.

Today is truly a historic day with implications that we are not yet aware of. Also, LOL.

I’ve had an issue open with a tech vendor for the past week or so and was finally escalated to a “specialist” who responded with an absolutely idiotic AI-generated list of suggestions that did not at all pertain to my issue and this is what my life is now for the next few years at least. Yay.

God damn it, it’s back again.

Starting to see a lot of companies who ignored the warnings from Google and Yahoo to set up DMARC reaching the “find out” stage. This is both amusing and annoying because hardly anyone understands how it works, even now.

I set this up this morning and can vouch for its effectiveness. In this image the modified "web search" is on the left and the normal search on the right. It's so good that Google is bound to break it any minute now.

I wish I'd noticed this toad's alternate name a few days ago, this would have been the perfect 4/20 toad.

When someone starts a Teams meeting more than five minutes early I think everyone should have the option of showing up five minutes late to the agreed time.

My adorable toad (okay, it’s a frog, a butt frog) from @figmentpudding.com showed up and is currently watching over me from one of my shelves of things. So cute!

HAAAAAAM! The kid wanted ramen for lunch and thanks to Easter we had ham and hard boiled eggs in the fridge, so we had a Ponyo-inspired meal today.

I’m sad I have to wait until tomorrow to eat this. *glances at clock* hmmmmm
And it’s done! It looks delicious. I can’t wait to eat it tomorrow.

We went to the zoo today and found a toad, so Toad Facts had to post about it.

Our cat Noodle was neutered yesterday and he’s *not* having a good time with the Cone of Shame. He finally used the litter box and did a death roll beforehand to take off the collar, then when he was done he went and stuck his head back in the gone to put it back on.

Ever scoffed at the idea of handing out participation trophies? Throwing some words in an image generator and claiming the result as your creativity is claiming a participation trophy despite not participating.

I'm sure all five of the people who follow me have already done this, but today is the last day to leave a public comment for the CDC in favor of continuing access to COVID vaccines for everyone.
HEY, YOU. Yes, you there! Do you want to keep access to bi-yearly COVID vaccines (the science says we need a new shot every 4-6 months to keep the protection they offer) open to EVERYONE without a worry about cost? Please leave a public comment for the CDC BEFORE Feb 22. Find out how and where here:

Y'know what? Haters be damned, I'm really excited about this Borderlands movie. I loved the games. I had my reservations about the casting decisions. It's not exactly like the game. I'm gonna love it anyway.
