Reminder: Sure, the student protestors turned out to be right about Vietnam, and gay rights, and apartheid, and the Latin American dirty wars, and the invasion of Iraq -- but *this time* they are cluelessly naive and only protesting to look cool to their friends.

This time it’s different tho! Woke! Cheeto! *explodes into scraps of paper that, when reassembled, misquotes Voltaire*

Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall St, reproductive rights…

Eventually, but it's still too soon for a centrist consensus on them.

Look, young person, this is nothing like the protests of my youth! First, our cause was righteous. Second, the campus / police response has been nothing but professional and restrained, loving really. Third, GET OFF MY LAWN.

College age American people lost all interest in geopolitics of South East Asia when the draft ended Jan. 1973. They didn't care about the Vietnamese they just didn't want to get killed.

protesting against sending americans to die in vietnam was also correct though

Young men emigrated to Canada to avoid being drafted. They weren't sure they'd ever be able to return. The draft loomed over young men like a shadow in those years.

You're forgetting the multi-year crackdown on the left-wing groups, which included bans on admissions and expulsions for students who were members of radical student groups like the SDS, groups that were also targeted by COINTELPRO, and the massacres of student demonstrators in Kent and Jackson

Also the Moon Landing, the ongoing saga of Liz and Dick's turbulent love and the miracle season of the 1973 Mets; b/c none of this or what you mentioned is relevant to the general disinterest in the politics of Vietnam once the draft ended and American troops withdrawn.

The anti-war movement died down significantly before the draft ended (and American college students were exempt from the draft anyway). State repression played the largest role.

RFK was killed for his Israel support. Not being anti vietnam.

I think losing big state voices of influence played a role. Democrats were stomped in 68.

Yeah and even among those opposed to the war the whole time…. This is the major problem among the loudest anti Vietnam war people. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodi...

Newly unveiled Hamas body-cam footage confirms that Dror Or, considered hostage since 10/7, was in fact murdered on 10/7 and his body is held by Hamas. His wife, Yonat, was also murdered on 10/7.
