Ok, still can't post videos here, so sorry my timelapse is over on twitter. But here's some pics of the Aurora Australis I captured off the coast of Dunedin last night. -4°C windchill with howling wind, I hunkered down in the tussock, and with passing light hail, I slept for 2 solid hours!

There was a big jump in NZ national wastewater last week off a low base (a 70%) increase for the week ending 21st off the week before. As the data released today has no movement in hospitalisations in that week (in particular late in the week) I think it is likely back to school spread in young

Walking around Poneke in the biting wind I realise that the original planners screwed up and should have set up the street grid at 45 degrees to the wind. Perhaps after the big one inevitably levels everyone they could fix this in the rebuild

100 years ago the Olympics wasn't just sport, there were art events, poetry, sculpture, even town planning. They were removed because they weren't considered 'amateur' ... They got rid of that requirement a couple of decades ago, why isn't the art back?
