I think you are missing the point here. The question of whether “the children are wrong” is — at best — of academic interest.
What matters here is that— like LBJ in 1968 — Biden doesn’t stand a chance. If the Democrats want a viable candidate, the sooner they acknowledge it the better.
Like I’m sorry that you’re here, again, in the sad position of having to vote for a pretty good liberal who listens to progressives, instead of electing a leftist who will punish your enemies and make them kiss your feet, but unless Biden trips down some stairs or something, that’s where we are.
Even if he trips down the stairs! The left hasn't done any of the groundwork of preparing a candidate-in-waiting and Harris (who has been doing that sort of work with an eye to running in 28) would likely waltz to the nomination
I’ve tried to avoid suspecting the worst of the left but I’m having a hard time avoiding the conclusion that their plan, at least in actual effect, is going to be to re-elect Trump and then blame it on Biden for not doing socialism (even though he did more socialism than any president in decades)
As a person on the left, let me assure you that 1) you haven't tried that at all, it's like your whole main thing, and 2) nobody on the left wants Trump to win, which is why we're furious about the active effort Biden is making to lose.
I'm personally torn between knowing Biden is doing an obviously inadequate job given the stakes and recognizing that Biden is doing a much better job that I really expected him to do going into 2020 (and tbh better than any President in my lifetime, an admittedly low bar)
Like my feeling since Biden wrapped up the nomination has been that Biden is a leaky rowboat we've all been crammed into, and while being on a leaky rowboat sucks I'm rooting for it not to sink and annoyed at the other people on the boat who are seemingly determined to drill more holes in it.

To be fair, it's a leaky rowboat with a built-in self-deploying backup rowboat included. Brand new backup rowboat, pretty cool. I don't know why there's not more emphasis on this.
