#WayUpNorthTrip Day 10 has been impossibly beautiful.The E6 and ferry ride and Vesterålen all stunning and sunny. White sand, turquoise waters, jagged mountains and a dramatic cloud bank rolling in over the ocean. Wildflowers like bright gems, and pink & white fields of fireweed and meadowsweet.

I love the Norwegian road worker tradition of spraying happy summer greetings on their machines when they stop working for the vacation season! It always makes me smile to pass them and see the decorations. #WayUpNorthTrip

#WayUpNorthTrip Day 8 Our car had a flat battery, so we got a late start, but we got up close to a glacier and caught some excellent views in the evening light

So glad! And the Toyota service package that came with the car pays for the jumpstart and everything - we just had to sign a form and that's it! Extremely convenient.

Happy and fully charged! We figured out it was probably that the lights came on and stayed on when we have the doors open - which is something that you do a LOT when car camping... So fingers crossed that's the end of that problem!

#WayUpNorthTrip Day 9. We slept with a roof over our heads, at a self-service hotel. Took a little shopping jaunt to Bodø (new hiking shoes!), then hit up the mighty Saltstraumen maelstrom at its peak. We've slowly made our way far north enough to have full midnight sun tonight!

Hoping real hard!!

We had like 3 episodes left when we headed off on our road trip so that's one thing to look forward to when we have to go back home...!

Lost in the ongoing Trumpapalooza is the excellent news that a malaria vaccination developed at Oxford Univ. over the last 30 years and costing only £3 per shot is being unrolled in malaria-prone countries. If it fulfills its promise, this will make an enormous difference to so many lives.

#WayUpNorthTrip Day 8 was... unexpected adventures! Car didn't start. Fortunately it was just a flat battery! And fortunately we don't have any set plans, so we weren't late to a spontaneous boat ride & hike up to Svartisen glacier! Currently driving in slow midnight sunset and gasping at the views.

Fingers crossed!! I've had three calls with the local tow guy, who keeps making dire predictions about not being able to fix it without taking the car to the nearest city, 2 hours north of here... But I've got faith in the trusty Toyota!
