i also recommend rosemary. the herb

i like the spirit of this, but disagree with your choice of herb: for me, thyme beats rosemary, hands down

i've been getting rosemary crackers and idk if they make thyme ones?
Avatar
In CA you can get a cracker brand called Firehook and they make a really lovely garlic thyme flavor! Excellent with soft cheeses.

Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme is a ranked listing?

This is amazing, and it is only right and natural that they dig honey crisp apples.

Use the good stuff. Get out the good art supplies. Use the good herbs. Wear the nice shirt. If you have it, and you are saving it for some imaginary someday. DO NOT. You are worthy now.

Reminds me of these posts I saved to remind myself:

And Lord/Lady/Being knows times are not getting easier anytime soon. Eat dessert when you can afford dessert. First is fine.

i used to have a joke with two friends... "Dessert First! Life is short!" not much later, i survived breast cancer but one if them did not. use the good stuff or give it away😘

My mom had a set of Good Dishes that were never, to my knowledge, used. I suppose the Pope never showed up for pork chops.
Avatar
To be fair, if the good dishes can't go in the dishwasher, I am never using them.

Any dish can go in the dishwasher, if you just believe

Also recommend Russian tortoises as pets! Very small species, not too difficult to care for as far as reptiles go, it's like having your own sassy little baby dinosaur, and since they live a long time there are always many adoptable adults in need of homes! youtu.be/_7DPhtkTVTU?...

Those things are very different than the usual (Afghan, I think?) pet tortoises people have. They're a lot more active, and they not afraid to climb and explore.
Avatar
this was something I only learned a few years ago and while not surprised it's still shocking
Avatar
Yeah according to the studies it's 'mostly safe for most people'. The history of MSG panic in the late 90s/early 00s was really gross! Sadly the pendulum has swung the other directly making it super hard for people with legitimate MSG sensitivity to even talk about it w/out being mocked and scolded.
Avatar
Yes! I use it frequently. It’s literally just synthetic seaweed flavour.
Avatar
When it’s marketed like this nobody bats an eye
Avatar
We keep this in supply at all times, and use it frequently.

I will agree that it is a perfectly fine and healthy and wonderful additive. However it's not entirely a myth. I happen to be very sensitive to the stuff. Gives me blinding migraines and heart thumpies. *Three* Doritos will have me in a dark room waiting for death to take me. It absolutely sucks.
Avatar
Most fast food chicken places use it. Ranch dressing. Lots of snack foods. Ironically, with all the misplaced hate, Asian food is usually safe for me. No other sources of sodium or glutemates will do it, only added MSG. People always assume I'm being a closet racist because I "don't like it". Ugh.
Avatar
I'm also highly sensitive to it, and I've been mocked here, today, on the skyline, for saying that out loud.
Avatar
Avatar
Needed that more than I can say. People don't realize what a pain it is to live like this (often literally). Wishing you many happy MSG free meals! ♥
Avatar
And you as well! Happily, I've found that a local place doesn't use it, so I get to have fried chicken again! Yay!
Avatar
The article insists that msg occurs naturally in foods. So does cholesterol, and cholesterol gave me a heart attack. Without any medical or scientific analysis (which isn't found in this article), I'm not convinced.
Avatar
It links directly to two studies.

I think it comes down to moderation...too much of anything will always be bad for you, and then you have to factor in the dice roll of complications that is the human body. Moderation overall, with extra attention to whatever affects you more than others.
Avatar
Well... obviously. That applies to literally every food substance.
Avatar
Well of course too much is bad for you, that's what "too much" means you blithering twat. If you had too much water it would be bad for you, wouldn't it? "Too much" precisely means that quantity which is excessive, that's what it means. youtu.be/XewVicFzRxw?...

This right here, exactly. It's safe for -most- people. I wish more people understood that. Some people are particularly sensitive to it (despite what dietitian in the article says), and all neuros I've been to, including migraine specialists, cite MSG as a migraine trigger.
Avatar
eating cholesterol doesn't up your cholesterol, it doesn't work that way. Your body synthesizes cholesterol, it doesn't integrate cholesterol you eat.
Avatar
Damn water occurs naturally in food, we need more medical and scientific analysis about water because water killed my uncle.
