Do I have to have read the first seven deaths of Spider-Man to understand 8 Deaths of Spider-Man?

This article contains a couple of hilarious misunderstandings ('Decompression' is a technique, not a movement) but is otherwise a fascinating insight into one of the most revered and complex comics creators of the 20th century.
The Secret Life of Steve Ditko: Spider-Man Co-Creator’s Family Opens Upwww.rollingstone.com He helped create the web-slinging hero in his own image — but who was the man behind the mask?

Man, I should really remember to post my video schedules here on Bluesky. Anyway, I have videos that will show you what Spider-Man comics are coming this week and this month, and also a recap of Amazing Spider-Man #55, where Spider-Man loses to Doc Ock due to the most comic book of devices.

Been playing around with brand new thumbnails, that hopefully allow me to have more fun with the art, and also make it clear what videos are recaps or otherwise.

@dereklandy.bsky.social Hello! Hoping you could clear something up about the preview for the ASM Annual next week. It starts with Spidey saying he saw someone die, but I don't think that happened in the Thano annual, right? Is this gonna be time-travel stuff or is he referring to a different series?

Man, I'm so glad that the Joe Kelly news dropped before I recorded my "Spider-Man issues coming out in July" video.

Bonus comrade card for today. (Words by @prisonculture.bsky.social, of course)

No one making a sincere argument about a piece of entertainment has to be an asshole about it. That’s a choice, and one made only to drive outrage, not discussion.

@nicklowe.bsky.social Hi Nick. Hoping you can clear something up. The latest announcement for ASM #58 (can't wait!) has it listed as releasing on the 11th September, just two weeks after issue #56 on the 28th August? Was this in error? Or are we sneaking an issue #57 between the two?

The cover for Amazing Spider-Man #58, and the solicit looks like they're confirming that Wells is wrapping up his run with this arc.

Thanks Google. I did always think that Steve Ditko bore a striking resemblance to @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com .

When we analyze Killmonger, we need to consider more than just what he says about his motivations, which is the entire thrust of my original thread. People put way too much stock into the flowery self-serving speeches of the villains as though that's not a tactic as old as narrative.

@ryannorth.ca Could I ask for clarity on something from FF#6. If the bacteria was from the other dimension, and was mirrored, does that not mean it would be compatible with life on our dimension (and could be eaten by things here)?

This was a delightfully silly Spidey story, that then turned into something much more heart-warming at the end, and really spoke to where Peter is right now: alone and unwilling to burden others.
It's here! The final Spidey issue of our run on Marvel Unlimited, here is another perfect panel tbh. Written by me, art by @jasonmuhr.bsky.social, colors by Chris Sotomayor, edited by MR Daniel and Ellie Pyle share.marvel.com/sharing/issu...

Been releasing a new Spider-Man video every week, recapping all the comics that feature him, and I'm particularly proud of today's one: youtu.be/ROmBPm-zOd8 Just lots of little improvements that are making these videos a little better each.

I was literally buzzing with excitement when this press release arrived in my inbox. I've been hoping that #50 wouldn't just be Norman back as the goblin, and excited to see evil Peter explored more.

Had an editing job for a videogame, where I had to basically say "Hey, this game isn't ready enough for you to pay me money to make a trailer for it yet". Ethically the right thing to do, but boy I coulda used that money this month.

Spidey took a few decades to fulfil this promise, but fulfil it he did! (From ASM #50)

@neilhimself.neilgaiman.com I was having a discussion with my husband today about how writing is hard because you have to compare your first draft against a world of final drafts. As an author who has been very open with your process, have you ever shared online a first draft of, say, a chapter?

It's not a little oopsie to sexually harass women, or to provocatively talk to a teenager. These are really easy things to not do. To say that you want these people back into your community is to say that you don't want women or other minorities in your community. You can't have both.

Eltingville is dear to my heart, I own one of his Bill & Ted pages, but there's no getting around the fact that he drew the greatest single panel of comics ever made.

Early Spider-Man is just John Romita scribbling doodles in the margins of Stan Lee's novel.
