Ohhhh my god I shouldn't let my anger lead me to despair? I should let it radicalize me? Should we throw a party? Should we invite voting?

I walked to the library and voted for the only candidates in my district’s judicial primaries who filled out the ballotpedia survey. I don’t know if it matters but I did it anyway.

hear me out: demand that both candidates, on camera and under the supervision of a guy named Dave who is totally cool, take no fewer than three massive bong rips of Gorilla Glue #4 before the debate. we'll see who they are then
What drugs make you good at debates? No, not the ones that make you think you're good at debates

Just learned the Spanish version of "righty tighty, lefty loosey" translates as "the right oppresses, the left liberates" and holy shit that goes hard.

its wild to me how people don’t know that ONLY 28% of nyc subway stations are accessible and our Governor just destroyed any chance of that changing in the future anyway, here are some pdf images that should definitely not be printed and used for vandalism purposes: drive.google.com/drive/folder...

I do not support all women some of you are Kathy Hochul!
I think more people should adopt the “I do not support all women some of you bitches are very dumb!” mentality for whatever marginalized group you belong to

zoomers and alphas knowing how to use a command line is the new millennials knowing how to drive stick: critical when you need it, but the real benefit is how impressed everyone is when you say you can do it

It's the most NY politics thing ever that the state is losing $1B a year, passing a payroll tax that hits millions and sending the subway into a death spiral because 20,000 dipshit cops who don't even live in the city are mad they might have to pay a $15 toll to park their cars on our sidewalks.
[MTA] board member, who agreed to speak on background due to the sensitivity of the situation, put it more bluntly. “We have no idea what the fuck’s going on,” the person said. “We haven’t since this all started.” tweet: x.com/evanhill/sta... Politico: www.politico.com/newsletters/...

NY’s Congestion Pricing Clusterfuck ought to convince anybody with eyes and ears that voting at the local level for climate-policy-friendly candidates matters State Senator Liz Krueger and her allies in the legislature are not caving to Hochul without a very bloody fight, and that matters

On this topic, companies should have to tell you whether the support agent in chat is a person. I am almost as averse to talking to a machine as if it's a person as I am talking to a person as if they're a machine.
This guy says in the replies that this was 7-10 years ago but it makes you wonder how many companies are still doing it like this with 100% human labor. We already know every AI company is doing this with some degree of human intervention, they just call it “training the model.”

On election day 2020, I opened the class Zoom and played a video called "one hour relax with capybaras and vaporwave" and my only regret is not having done the same for my class the day before
Some unsolicited advice to everybody in the US putting together syllabi for the Fall: Note the election and build flexibility and grace into the schedule. No exams or big assignments right before or after the election. Maybe have a distance learning day. It'll be difficult, no matter what happens.

I will add to this list "basically," which is valid some but not most of the times I hear it!
YES I feel the same way about "obviously" and "logically". Even when I see the point I switch immediately to internally screaming BUT WHAT IF I DIDN'T SEE ProTip for 🧪 and #SciComm right here (and check the linked thread for more great ideas on how to present well for conferences)
