Thanks Holden. I know the alt text bot isn’t meant as a substitute but I didn’t have access to the original text just the screenshot, tend to use it for those kinds of situations. It’s awesome, great work with that project!!!
Yes, they are. Here in Germany, they (Lidl as well) are infamous for paying their managers bonuses to prevent the creation of "worker's councils" (an institution of German labor law) and consequently unionization.
Additionally many German corporates which are good at home, are horrible overseas (see German car companies and their production facilities in the southern US) although this has gotten a little bit better.
ya my spouse is absolutely spoiled by the mgmt at the store they work at. in the next town over that TJ is a hellhole according to other crewmembers they talked to
I've never had the joy of working at a union job. So I understand that some non-union jobs may be less harmful to their workers than others. However that doesn't mean they are "decent" places to work. It means they are the less harmful option available to you.
Specifically Dan Bane, their CEO until 2023 being intensely anti-union and passing the reins to Bryan Palbaum who also sucks. TJs has a long history of shitty CEOs that fear their employees
That store is overrated AF. I don’t have one where I live. When I visit them it’s quite a meh experience. Yet people ask me how I survive without; very nicely.
That was my reaction as well, until I learned the union was not asking for a boycott from supporters. The second they do, I'm done with TJs but until then I'll just wait.

If this were just a strike thing between labor and management I'd feel that way
But they're trying to destroy the entire structure of labor rights, fuck em, they're dead to me
Nah I know. Trader Joe’s just gets my budget with all those little snacks. Now I can feel morally superior for saving money. Hahaha.
I will boycott when it comes time. For now, I’m just broke.
feels like a big moment for the Biden administration coming up. Entities like the FTC & NLRB are two bright spots that are a big part of domestic policy-making that keeps me in the tent to vote Dem
Recently I turned down cold recruitment offers from both these companies based *heavily* on their anti-worker stances. They keep proving that I made the correct decision.
