The lesson from France is that sometimes you have to hold your nose to defeat fascism. You can't beat it with your own ideological purity.

The left went all the way to sacrifice candidates to keep the nazis out. The macronites much less so, macron in fact tried to ensure a Le Pen victory by keeping his candidates in, several dropped out against his wishes. "far left" wut, the no. 1 collaborator w the far right is the centre- right

The mainstream media outlets are owned by greedy money-hoarding billionaires who would happily destroy democracy & replace it with a fascist theocratic oligarchy. They don’t report facts, they don’t report truth, they vomit propaganda to further their agenda. Don’t buy it.

My fantasy: Joe Biden, calling on Peter Baker, getting a question about being old, answering: “Sure I’m old. But at least Jeffrey Epstein didn’t have my number on speed dial like the adjudicated rapist running against me.”

They are so very incredibly mad at him. The more they protest and shout, the more I feel like Biden must be doing SOMETHING right to piss them off this much.

Violent threats from MAGA don't just appear to be rising in number, but getting more blatant. Typically, they couch threats in "ambiguous" language, to make the post-threat gaslighting easier. Lately, even the deniability is fading. www.salon.com/2024/07/08/s...

A lot of folks who supposedly analyze politics for a living are just like…not good at it?

I’ve learned that I need a non-work related paper printout maybe 2-3 times a year, and it’s more cost effective to just go into a FedEx/UPS store and print out whatever from there. And I can usually print from work anyway. I’ll probably never buy a home printer ever again.
In case anyone was wondering, home printers still suck.

It’s amazing the extent to which our billionaire tech bro overlords are just telling us out loud that they are rooting for fascism. Makes me slightly nostalgic for the days when American plutocrats plotted against democracy in secret.

A seasonal wave of #Covid is sweeping across the U.S., driven by the FLiRT variants, a trio of the latest #SARSCoV2 mutants making the rounds. So no, it's not your imagination. People are getting Covid again www.seattletimes.com/nation-world...

The authoritarian right has power in America only because the majority of Americans didn't care enough to pay attention, let alone vote. The French saw the danger and stood against it.

It drives me nuts when people say we need to make sure poor people have access to AI. The entire schtick is focused on providing AI slop to the masses while ensuring the elites get real human professionals. Having a human teacher or doctor or lawyer cannot become a bespoke luxury for the wealthy.

Dem weirdos dreaming up tournament-style solutions to Joe Biden being the nominee and Catturd-grade reactionary types crying about cheating in the French election have one crucial thing in common, which is that they transparently lack the emotional maturity and patience required to be sports fans.
