vanderbilt has lost its copy of Prayer Book Studies 18 - does anybody happen to have a PDF copy? I have the text of the liturgy it proposed, but not the prefatory materials. worst case I can order one off ebay, and I should really do so anyway, but if someone has it digitally that's much faster ⚓

Driving is going well. I’ve been told to book my theory test, as driving tests are booking in December. If I book and do theory now, I can aim to be ready in December, or sooner or if I’m ready and there’s a cancellation.

The misogynoir is already starting–not that there was ever a break but, it is ratcheting up against our vice president already, immediately, with sexualized language used to demean her openly on broadcast/cable air. Remember what they did to Michelle Obama, this is going to be so very much worse.

Earlier today we went out and collected rocks to put in the tortoise enclosure for enrichment. That’s what Fergus is sleeping on. Not the pillows, not the couch, not the 500 cat beds around here - a bag of rocks. 🪨

Finally! Tesco order in. Slightly random collection of items but they will build meals for us both. Always more complex as we have to essentially cook two different dinners every day for health reasons.

I’ve realised I’m a bit burnt out after year-end. I’m managing to do some nice things, but I have a touch of The Sads (which is 100% fatigue so will pass with some sleep). Some how I need to do a Tesco shop but I all want is peanuts and ice cream.

Does anyone have experience of repairing vestments? I want to restore a very heavy cope and I’m pretty sure I know how I should do it, but I’d love to speak with someone who has some experience with them. A costumier sympathetic to the task would probably be as helpful! ⚓

ChatGPT can’t summarise documents. It shortens them, misses key conclusions, adds errors, makes stuff up, and ignores actual summary sections. Use it to summarise important texts like meeting discussions at your peril. ea.rna.nl/2024/05/27/w...
When ChatGPT summarises, it actually does nothing of the kind.ea.rna.nl One of the use cases I thought was reasonable to expect from ChatGPT and Friends (LLMs) was summarising. It turns out I was wrong. What ChatGPT isn't summarising at all, it only looks like it. What it...

Yet, some students from marginalized groups do buy into meritocracy. And the zeal of the converted makes them dangerous weapons for meritocracy's proponents. Because they're willing to hold themselves up as proof that merit rules, even by disparaging their family and friends. 7/

Yeah, so, not that I think any of you would actually do this, but: these gig listings are absolutely soliciting images for training data to produce generative child sex abuse images, and that is why they are being so particular about age ranges. Do not, under any circumstances.

Notice when you’re using a candidate’s first name when you’d normally use their last. It was a right-wing think tank tactic to diminish all of the women candidates last few elections by pounding out only using their first names in every context.
