I don’t think it’s anyone’s duty to personally observe the heinous images coming out of Rafah right now but I do wish U.S. TV did fewer panel discussions debating “free speech” on college campuses and gave Americans a more honest accounting of the war crimes our government funds every single day.

Penguin Random House today suddenly fired Lisa Lucas. She's actually one of the pillars in publishing as a Black woman who holds it down to get writers of color & women published & a huge deal, which is why this is in the New York Times. So this is a widely slammed move for diversity in publishing.
Penguin Random House Dismisses Two of Its Top Publisherswww.nytimes.com The departures of Reagan Arthur, of Alfred A. Knopf, and Lisa Lucas, of Pantheon and Schocken, in a restructuring came as a surprise to many in the company.

Well there it is: Israel can do whatever it wants and USA will always give the thumbs up. Genocide, war crimes, whatever outrage you can think of. This is a blank cheque.

Historian Ilan Pappe was detained in Detroit airport on Monday and asked if he was a Hamas supporter, whether he views Israeli action in Gaza as genocide, who his Arab and Muslim friends are in America, and what his solution is to the “conflict.” He is 70.

I mean folks in 17th century England would have been SUPER CHILL, I'm sure.
Just trying to imagine if people a few hundred years ago had been here to witness, in the span of a few weeks, an eclipse, an earthquake, a supernova as bright as the North Star, and an unexpected appearance of the northern lights.

i just think if a pro-palestinian agitator drove his car into a line of pro-israel protesters and hit one of them that it would be the main story on every news network, front page of every paper and top of the homepage on every website.

One thing the protests have reinforced is the absolutely amazing work that student journalists do every day. Their reporting on what's been happening on campuses around the countries has been indispensable.

Today’s professors are not the young people of 1968, they are the young people of 9/11, “weapons of mass destruction,” and Abu Ghraib. Of Katrina and Bush v. Gore. Some of us are neocons and the rest of us know what propaganda, overreaction, and war crimes look like.

I said it at the other place: don't call the cops on your students. That should be it. That should be all. But I guess we need to add: don't put snipers on the roof; don't call in tactical squads; don't taser. But really, it is all covered by: Don't call the cops on your students.
