I wish more people were pointing this out to voters in Montana. (Maybe there are some people doing it out there? Let me know.) Public lands access is one of the few things that has cross-party support with voters (rich politicians? welll...) We also have a significant % of Native American voters.
No one has written about this (I will) but Project 2025 will destroy federal lands as we know it as well as any progress towards recognizing Native peoples.

On the topic of immunity for killing people
We've now reached 200 death row exonerations. Meanwhile, the state with the most (Florida) is pushing to limit appeals, carry out executions more quickly, allow death sentences from non-unanimous juries, and impose the death penalty for crimes other than homicide.

It’s not a coincidence that Claremont and Hillsborough are training and recruiting law enforcement.

Every cop who killed someone ever.
Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

I don’t have enough thoughts about establishment Dems to make a comment on strategy, but I do think the decades of supporting the Law Enforcement Baronial Class (including prosecutors) has set the stage for executing Project 2025.

We know what impunity looks like. It’s law enforcement.
Civil rights attorney Jill Collen Jefferson took on the police force in the small town of Lexington, Miss., collecting evidence of abuse, falsifying evidence and assault. Then they arrested her.

I have more to say on the Grants Pass holding, but I've reported before on how sheriffs see houselessness, especially rural houselessness, as an opportunity to make money and consolidate power. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

A vigilante world -- order without laws.
Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.

So being a president IS like being a sheriff, SCOTUS decides.

Same applies to the non-citizen children of the non-citizen spouse fyi (as well as non-citizen adoptees). You have to apply. And if anyone has an arrest -- which a lot of young men of color do -- they will generally get rejected for the green card.
“Marriage is not an automatic ticket to a green card. A married citizen-noncitizen couple must jump through a series of administrative hoops to apply for the lawful permanent residency that marriage can confer.”

Heller definitely just made up new law, although I think - militias included not just slave patrols but also killing Native people in the West. Anyways, I talk quite a lot about this in my book, as it relates to sheriffs. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/707263...
THERE ARE NO SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS UNLESS YOU’RE IN A STATE MILITIA in a time before standing armies. Thomas made that up!! In 2008. In Heller. With Scalia. Say it with me: “The Scalia Second Amendment is Bullshit.”

The Rahimi ruling -- not terribly surprising -- does nothing for domestic violence. Police never, ever confiscated Rahimi's firearms in related to the protective order. They only did something two years when he fired his weapon outside a Whataburger. sheriffs.substack.com/p/women-foug...

As I worked on my book, I asked people over and over exactly HOW the Second Amendment is “threatened” in light of court rulings.

Look, I agree Trump is lionizing J6 defendants, but let's not pretend like law enforcement and members of the military aren't...hired to kill people. Contradicting Trump by lionizing USA's professional killers (many of who support Trump) cannot be the best way. www.latimes.com/world-nation...
