Just a jaw-dropper from the state whose attorney general is currently trying to execute an innocent man. innocenceproject.org/missouri-cir...

A lot of the innocence projects cases are like this, so mind blowing and fucked up you have to stop for a moment and marvel at the corruption of the justice system.

We don’t have a justice system. We have a legal system. Very different things.
Avatar
The Innocence Project lacks the resources to try and free every falsely imprisoned person, as there are simply too many, so they focus on the most egregious. It still takes years, even when the conviction was entirely absurd
Avatar
Its clearly past time that confessions unsupported by corroborating evidence were eliminated as the basis for convictions. And yes, I know that won't eliminate all abuses and problems. NZ had plenty of 1970s problems with fabricated evidence falsely placed by police officers.. Step by step.
Avatar
wait is that a thing in other countries? a confession alone isn’t sufficient? i… wow, feeling super ignorant right now, i never even considered that
Avatar
Yeah, the AG goes on the basis once convicted, always convicted no matter what what a judge says later or the evidence reveals.
Avatar
Well, MO also elected Josh Hawley, so the bar is pretty low…
Avatar
They also elected Cori Bush so maybe we shouldn't rush to judge.
this is normal police behavior, not really a jaw dropper
Avatar
Sadly true, they protect their own and are as bad in f not worse than someone the call “criminals”…

Yes you’re very smart. Thank you for your contribution, here is your gold star for the internet today. ⭐️

"the state whose attorney general is currently trying to execute an innocent man." Does that actually narrow it down?
Avatar
I assume it’s a reference to Marcellus Williams, who has a different ludicrous case.

Hey, why bust a man for murder when there's a woman conveniently available? #snarkAlert
Avatar
Not just any man, but a cop. The entire department and the prosecutors conspired to protect a serial violent criminal because he was their coworker
Avatar
This shouldn't just because to vacate her conviction but also should be caused to charge the prosecutor and the other investigating officers with conspiracy after the fact.
Avatar
Dictation really did a number on this one.

Hard not to conclude that ACAB
Avatar
I may be jaded, but none of that was even a little bit surprising. Entirely to script and predictable.
Avatar
That's why the state motto is: "Missouri loves company"
Avatar
The irony is that the Missouri motto is salus populi suprema lex esto, meaning "The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law".
Avatar
You missed the 'rich' before people. That's what they meant.
Avatar
True! And/or the well connected.

Wilhoit’s Law remains undefeated.
Avatar
I hate to say that I had to skim the article to narrow it down to the specific state
Avatar
I swear, every story I read about corrupt cops is the bottom of the barrel—just the absolute worst. Then the next day I read another one, and oh look, it's worse! Actually, I should rephrase. Given how they cover for each other, I shouldn't say corrupt cops. I should just say cops.
Avatar
st joe is fucked, man
Avatar
The whole state is, but yeah. St. Joe has long had a whole other dimension of fuckedupedness.
Avatar
this is the AG who has his nose so far up trump's behind he hasn't seen daylight in years. i'm thinking this is being done to impress the maga death cult.
Avatar
Any word on what the mythical "good cops" were doing?
Avatar
Is there any info on what became of Holman?
Avatar
He was eventually fired for doing other crimes and died in 2015.

Avatar
I knew it had to be 50/50 Missouri vs Texas before reading.
Avatar
I hate to break this to you all, but: this is every MO AG and governor, every term. That box can never be unchecked, evidence be damned.

God help us all, & this lady specifically! 🙏
