Political news junkie. Blocks doomers on sight. No patience for far left who blame Dems instead of GOP for our problems.

Dem weirdos dreaming up tournament-style solutions to Joe Biden being the nominee and Catturd-grade reactionary types crying about cheating in the French election have one crucial thing in common, which is that they transparently lack the emotional maturity and patience required to be sports fans.

I wrote this in 2017, shortly after Macron's 1st win. I said: Macron is so open about being hostile to Left, that it salvages a huge path for the broad left to be an alternative... if it manages to unite. Few things I've ever written have aged so well. democracyjournal.org/arguments/re...

It would be terrible if FBI or DOJ officials paid Wall Street Silver guy a visit to inform him about the federal penalties for election fraud.

The UK and France just proved that getting out and actually voting makes a difference. Don’t let anyone ever tell you differently.

Maybe it's time that the @nytimes.com should step aside for a younger, fitter, more coherent newspaper.

Left and center split the vote, far right wins. Left, liberals, centrists, and moderate conservatives ease the path for whichever of them has a better chance against the far right, the far right loses. We've seen evidence of that for a century, from Weimar Germany through France today.
What could have happened today if more candidates who came in 3rd had refused to drop out? Hint of an answer in the city of Aix. Here, the Macronist candidate refused to drop out. As a result, no front vs the far-right. Result: RN wins with 37%. Left at 36%. Macronists 27%.

This is the way
Here's a lesson for all of these "why should I have to choose the lesser of two evils" Democrats out there.

BREAKING NEWS: Voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly. Polls predicted a first-place finish for National Rally, which instead came in third in initial results as polling stations closed.

The hurdle America has in following up France and the UK’s rejection of the far right is that our party system is stupider than the UK’s and our electoral system is stupider than them both (counting the presidency & electoral college). But we’re gonna give it our best.

You say Biden is unfit, but he made Gaza go away as an issue merely by stuttering so perhaps he is the best president we've ever had?

This is super important work. And it looks like it's actually having an effect. Normal people learn about Project 2025 and are scared as shitless as they should be. The Nation, The New Republic, Rolling Stone, Boston Review and others are doing the work that NYT and WaPo are neglecting.
We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this. www.bostonreview.net/articles/ins... www.mediamatters.org/project-2025

It's hard to communicate how radical this is. For 200 years every politician in America wanted the federal government to pay for things so they could take credit for it. It's a fundamental defining feature of American politics. But now owning the libs is more important. 1/2

Also the odd youtubers out there talking about it critically - I didn't make much when first hearing about it this week but algorithm-stumbled into a southern political youtuber explaining it from last month: youtu.be/op0yk50uMlQ?... . These folks may be more relatable than news magazines.

Where are the columnists who are experts in specific fields, breaking down what the Heritage Foundation + Trump want to do to each individual federal agency? E.g. I read the section dedicated to our intelligence agencies, and had to stop, since I was starting to feel a little nauseous.
