The Plynteria is a fascinating festival and ritual, somewhat poorly attested even though it must have been quite a production. The name "Plynteria" means "Washing" and this was when the statue of Athena in the Parthenon was taken down to the sea to be cleansed #GreekReligion #ClassicsBluesky 🏺
