Fucking hilarious NYT put their "But her emails" correspondent on a Biden story, when they pay her a lot of money to maintain non-stop access to Trump's camp.

It's not okay for presidents to go to bed at 8. It just is not. Come on.
Avatar
Why? I had a professor in college who went to bed at 8pm and got up at 3am. When I was a teenager, I worked overnight and slept from about 7am to 2pm. What difference does it make?
Avatar
Because the US President needs to be able to make life or death decisions on very little sleep. It's a requirement of the job.

So ridiculous - you're plainly reaching for anything to anti-Biden. Say, bed 8pm, awakened at 2am for some emergency. Rather that, or one who's been up til midnight and now exhausted and not thinking straight? Your random scenarios are no better than any other.

Come on, man. Imagine that you're an independent, someone who thinks we're making up the danger of Trump because we think racism is just uncouth and J6 was just a riot. To you, these candidates are about equal, but one of them says he can't stay up past 8 anymore. You're not going to pick that guy.
Avatar
Ppl in that mindset aren't going to pick Biden anyway, they're Trump voters. I get you don't want Biden but he's a capable leader with solid performance. Any criticism falls on his comms team
Avatar
That's bullshit. The only way anyone wins is by persuading enough independents, so no "write off all independents who require a president who can stay up past 8pm" is not a good plan. Stop. Speedily make your way through the stages and reach acceptance. We can't run a guy who can't stay up late.

Literally everyone who can truthfully say "Yes I can stay alert late at night, even pull an all-nighter if there's an emergency" is a better candidate. This is a basic job requirement that all voters are going to care about.
Avatar
I suspect its a small percentage of independents who will vote against early bedtime over civil/human rights, healthcare, democracy, fidelity, honesty, respect, and overall humanity.
Avatar
I'm sorry but that's totally delusional, to think that voters would just say "It's fine if the president needs an early bedtime." I'm not sure what you think people outside the hardcore D base think about things, but...they envision a president being on call at all hours to defend us.

The president is the sole authority that can authorize a nuclear strike, for example. MAD depends on the POTUS being able to immediately retaliate. It's not safe to have a president who can only be alert some of the time.
Avatar
There can't be even a half-hour window where we could be struck without retaliation. I feel as unsafe as when Trump was in office.

He was not available during the debate, and either he or else the Vice President clearly needed to be...

He certainly was available. He was literally on television with 50 million people watching him.
