Making dinner last night, the 9yo girl is helping. I'm making a vinaigrette and explaining how a little mustard helps it emulsify. "Oh," she says. "It's like that one friend that connects two other friends. I'm like that - but this is for condiments." Be like that kid and be the mustard, folks.

"Take the stairs," but make it mental health.
Exactly, some people really will benefit from little breaks or more hobby-like activities but other people have chemical imbalances in their brains that need to be managed with medication. "Have you tried going for a walk?" can be unbelievably condescending if it's over-applied

Submitted: JD Vance is the millennial Ted Cruz, in that only the most ghoulish of ghouls even pretends to like him and that growing a beard was an image upgrade.

The "Smash"-on-Peacock news has been out for a good 15 minutes and I have yet to see a photo of Kat McPhee's head on the Dillon Panthers' star RB's body. Can someone check on @sepinwall.bsky.social please.

After the closing/gutting of MTV News, Comedy Central & other websites, I've been going through my old stuff and archiving (with Authory) things I want to save. It is remarkable how many stories I wrote about Quibi programming late 2019-early 2020. (I am not saving those stories)

Underrated part of the on-off-on-off-now-on-again Paramount-Skydance saga is getting to use the extremely goofy pic of Shari Redstone brandishing a coffee cup over and over.

As a Northwestern alum, I … cannot argue with a single word of this. And f the clowns bringing this suit.
"The complaint alleges that the private university’s law school gives hiring preference to 'mediocre' women and applicants of color." The idea that Northwestern hasn't hired plenty of mediocre white dudes is wholly unsustainable in light of Northwestern's many mediocre white dudes.

Just wanted to say that listening to @lindaholmes.bsky.social and @aishaharris.bsky.social do a taxonomy of will they-or-won't they tropes on PCHH was a lovely way to start my day. Thanks.

Writers of online things: How do you archive your stuff? What services/tips/tricks do you use? I haven't done this enough and have been badly burned by previous site killings. (Not expecting it to happen in my current gig but I'd still like to have backups somewhere safe.)

Hey for extra fun guess what was the only way for people who still work at the show to find old clips that are important to have in the course of producing said show!

So much $$$ wasted in the past five years on trying to develop and market branding for different streamers adjacent to their different cable properties — "FX on Hulu," "Max Originals" etc — only to discover that none of these brands — much less "cable" and "streamers" — mean ANYTHING to "the kids."

Here's how I'm thinking about it, based on what I wrote and Casey's interview w/Variety: HBO is still HBO, but with more big-budget, IP-driven shows. Max is some genuinely good comedies (Hacks, Sex Lives of College Girls) + dramas that 10 years ago would've run on TNT + all the Discovery stuff
Honestly, with no TV's Top 5 on which to discuss this, I have a hard time caring. I'll let Casey Bloys' Bluesky burner account explain it all to me.

After consuming a full bag* of the fiery mango Doritos (over several sittings/days), I would advise you to spend your $6.29 elsewhere. Not terrible, but lower-tier chips for sure. (*Impulse grocery buy. No one really liked them, but the generic heat was OK when I wanted something spicy.)

It is not even close to his best/most important/defining role, but Donald Sutherland's delivery of "I'm not kidding! This is my job!" in "Animal House" is a) entirely perfect and b) among the most instantly accessible clips in the library in my head.
