Hard not to feel like FBI Regional Director Gordon Cole is conducting a coded briefing in full public view here.

Man, wait till he shows up at the convention and discovers his former OMB chief Russ Vought helped draft both Project 2025 AND the RNC platform.
The ramped-up hits on Project 2025 must be landing — Trump just shoved it right in front of the bus

The new “Beverly Hills Cop” movie is reminding me that there supposedly exists a completed 2-hour version of “Another 48 Hrs.” that was almost released, and then the studio panicked and cut a half hour out of it a week before release. Someone should restore that while Walter Hill’s still alive.

Lmao they just changed the title of the piece from “Why I don’t vote” to “Why I won’t vote” rather than tell readers that the guy actually does vote

For about the millionth time, I’ll just say — having a public editor who could ask people how this happened and lay it out for readers would actually make the paper look better than fucking up this badly and then walking away from it without saying a word.

Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.

I get that you have to rationalize things however you can, but I like that Michael Rooker — a man who has been in multiple Marvel movies — is somehow still under the impression that all movies nowadays are 90 minutes long. variety.com/2024/film/ne...

On the off-chance that you may be wondering what Joe Biden sounds like in a full-length back-and-forth interview these days, this radio interview from this morning — albeit with an extremely friendly questioner — may be of interest! (You have to scroll back to the start of the live broadcast.)

I say this having gone through periods of depression, suicidality & self-harm. Hopelessness is something I can’t avoid but I can choose to believe that it will pass, especially if I work with other who struggle with the same things. Hopelessness and community can’t exist in the same heart for long.

(20 governors watch as Biden does one-armed pushups while singing “Yakko’s World” from “Animaniacs”. Later they all express regret at not having brought cameras.)

Thoughts and prayers to the person whose livelihood depends on routinely listening to the plot of “Dressed to Kill” being confidently recited as scientific fact before they can get to, like, discussing Butterbeer licensing in Croatia or whatever.
Sorry wouldn’t normally put her on the timeline but this might be the most insane thing j k rowlings ever written

Four episodes into “Evil”: “I dunno, I thought this would be weirder.” Seven episodes into “Evil”: “I withdraw my complaint.”
After years of reading rave reviews we’re watching “Evil” and four episodes in — and I’m asking this as someone who likes it just fine—is… is this the whole show? Is there another gear that it kicks into or…?

I dunno any of what this is about, but I will say -- if there's one industry that understands how to bury a story on a busy news day, it's journalists.

I sometimes think about how He Gets Us spent millions on a Super Bowl ad that was just AI artwork of people washing each others’ feet and the words “HE WASHED FEET” and we all went, “huh, that’s weird” and just moved past it instead of treating it as one of the most bonkers ads ever.

Every time I get a text or a call inviting me to take part in a poll, I think “this is a scam” and ignore it, and I’m thinking (a) polls might overrepresent people who never have that thought in their lives, and (b) that might vastly benefit one candidate over another.

“Boat-like, we keep going.”
I can’t think of a clever caption for this. It just breaks my fucking heart.

An experience I cannot recommend highly enough after spending two days surrounded by people in panic mode is talking to someone outside of media or politics who legitimately has no idea how the debate went.

It’s a small act of resistance but every time I get a glimpse into the atmosphere on this issue in the UK I think about how Russell T. Davies made a deliberate choice to give Donna Noble a trans daughter and put her front and center in one of the most beloved British TV series of all time.
Look, America has big problems but the absolutely unhinged freak out about trans women in the UK is breathtaking. My god, who has the time for these insane “concerns”? www.newstatesman.com/politics/lab...

I do the Box Office Game quiz where you have to remember/guess the top five movies from a historical weekend, and yesterday's was from the summer of 1999, and the image they used for a certain Hugh Grant romcom has guaranteed I'll never think of it by any other title.

Just to set everyone’s mind at ease, don’t worry, I checked and it’s still possible to buy every episode of “Kröd Mändoon”.
