As we sift through all the victories today, I hope people pay attention to what will likely be the most overlooked Election Day story: that the Blackest, most populous county in Mississippi ran out of ballots and if that could have affected the gubernatorial race… www.sunherald.com/news/politic...
When this happened in Berlin(!) of all places a few years ago our own constitutional courts ordered that the whole election had to be re-run because it was an infringement of the constitutional right to vote.
Republicans are clear and explicit about how they believe there isn’t and shouldn’t be democracy in the US.
They hedge with “republic, instead” but they are also pretty open about not wanting the system to be representative.
reminder that when Democrats a few years ago called the newest round of Republican voter suppression laws & rules "Jim Crow 2.0" the news media & pundits united in outrage, how dare they say such, and Democrats apologized
They spun this as 'maybe the plan worked', getting more ppl. out to vote, but no one plans without preparing too... even if they're not optimistic their plan will work.
Running out of ballots on election day?! Bad look. Highly sus! 🤔 🤨
That's horrible. I just made a post myself how sad I am that Mississippi can't get out from under the thumb of their theocratic state government. I didn't know about this, but it's also no surprise that those "good Christians" cheat to win.
The corruption is blatant. Last time, they suddenly changed polling places in several of the blackest areas of Hinds (City of Jackson) and Madison counties, IIRC. When the voters would call in to the county clerk's office, they were given wrong directions. It just goes on and on.
