I will forever be remembering the time I made a post on twitter about how biking is good and people should bike more and drive less and someone got really mad at me and told me that I don't understand how impossibly humid it is in the south because I live in Texas, a desert.

this entire state looks like a roadrunner cartoon background, yep

I think I've posted about this before on here, it's just an alltime dumbo take that has stuck in my head and rings out again every time I step outside and my glasses fog up, despite me living in a giant sand trap I guess

if gaming has taught me anything it's that people will just confidently be completely wrong about very obvious and widely known info

one time i echoed your description of austin as "verdant" to someone and they both didn't believe me and made fun of me for using a fancy word

I am staring out of my garage door at a bunch of trees right at this exact moment

I'm looking out the office window. nothing but trees

Not like a big hunk of it is on a gulf or anything

aside, I love occasionally watching episodes of 911 Lonestar, where every outdoor shot (of LA, where it's filmed) has that brown "desert" filter on it, despite the crew having definitely been here to shoot b-roll and some exteriors, including tracking shots over the massive river through downtown

lol living in LA ruined me, every time there’s any outdoor shot in any show, we’re always lauding it like “that’s Ventura” “that’s normandie and 7th” etc etc

I got blocked by Ryan Murphy on instagram for sending him photos of an alleyway in my neighborhood with some chickens wandering around in it and the words "shoot 911 lonestar in texas you coward"

I love visiting Houston, check out this picture I took at Screwed Up Records and Tapes the last time I went through.

I used to live in Houston and now live in Norfolk. The number of discussions I had with people who believe Houston is less humid than the Hampton Roads...

Bikeability in Texas doesn't just vary by city, but by neighborhood. But man, you definitely don't understand humidity. /s

When I moved to Houston, I was really surprised that there were trees and shit because I thought it was all sagebrush and scrub oak

Not even the desert part (where I lived for a decade) looks like that

Yeah, my mind-Texas looked a lot like southern California for some reason

Ah yes, Texas. The famously temperate in weather and biker friendly Texas. With infrastructure that makes bike riding safer and more efficient. That Texas.

Anyways you were right and should say it louder. People SHOULD drive less
