Been busy with drawing projects and haven't had much time for building models, but this build is finally coming together. Everything modelled in Blender with the couch and cabinet 3d printed with filament, and the old CRT printed in resin for better detail #miniatures #diorama #3dprinting

Spent the day inking and mucking around with a couple dioramas (way more of the latter), so I figured I should get at least some penciling practice in before the day's over. Here's a quick scribble based on a photo ref.

Gonna keep saying this & will die on this hill: Bad news without any guidance on what to do about it [at least some ideas] demobilizes and often encourages inaction. We on the Left(s) have to avoid cynicism which is deeply corrosive and also counterrevolutionary.

This holds true for drawing, too, I find. If I'm struggling with a panel or pose I don't fight it anymore, I just go back and recompose it and start over. There's no point trying to force something that's not working anyway.
1/Writer's block is, 90% of the time, your subconscious holding you back because you've taken a wrong turn. Go back to the last place the story was really working and try taking a left turn or two, see what happens. It costs you nothing and can really limber you up.

Jobs so apparently devoid of monetary worth that OpenAI will happily charge a monthly fee to take them over for their own profit. Absolute monsters, all of them.
In an interview, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati says "some creative jobs maybe will go away" due to AI, "but maybe they shouldn't have been there in the first place" (Kate Irwin/PCMag) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink

Big collections with commentary are great! I just finished a bunch of Mignola-verse books and the commentary in those is such a wonderful bonus.
LIBRARY EDITION! I did a bunch of commentary on these. It's like when DVD commentary was a thing but instead of hearing my voice you are reading my words.

I need Bruce Timm to go stand over the shoulders of artists designing/redesigning super hero costumes. Tear the piping off with his teeth.

Bear in mind you can't even use photos of Apple (and other company's) products on stock photo sites for any purpose other than 'editorial use,' but they're more than happy to just steal all of our images under the umbrella of 'the public web.'

Creatives are constantly told there's so little demand for our work they can't employ or pay us, but they turn around and invent ways of harvesting our work to get it for free so they can make even more money without us. There's demand, and money, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.
I like how every day I wake up and publishing says "books are worthless, you're worthless, we're putting all manuscripts into a shredder and firing our staff" and my brain scabs over and I go "time to write :)"

Fell asleep putting my youngest to bed, so this is me trying to wake myself up before drawing something I'll actually need to make sense of while inking later.

I might be a slight/extremely biased here since I did the lineart, but it IS a pretty fantastic book, you should check it out. It's also an absolute brick of an object, and could be ballast for your trunk in the winter, temporary paving stone for the walk, or just buy a bunch and make a chair.
If you are looking for something good and funny and a bit savage to read, I am very proud of BAD KARMA, my @imagecomics.bsky.social graphic novel from November—a gorgeous 304-page hardback. It’s on Panel Syndicate for pay what you like pdfs, so you can try before you buy. Please check it out!

I haven't drawn Daisy in what seems like forever. I should really get around to finishing the script for book 6 at some point.

By all means, use all the great ideas for your story. But make sure the great ideas work in your story and don't pull it apart. (From the Patreon).

It's been a while since I've wanted to fiddle with my website, but once my current project is done I think I'm going to do a complete overhaul of the comics portion of things. I think I'm just digitally nesting, and something stable where I can keep my work sounds pretty nice.
