This made me laugh in IRC olde.
Pfft! I was on the front line of the First Browser Wars, and these kids nowadays with their iPoods and their TicTacs don't understand the ravages of the digital carnage WE had to go through! Why, whole websites were built out of framesets, with animated gifs for backgrounds! It was a harrowing time…

I teach classes in a political science dept about judicial politics & the fed courts as a part of the American political system. I show students the fed courts are political by presenting evidence. The ProPublica pieces on Alito/Thomas gifts, lavish vacations gets them every time. Basic unfairness.
I really believe it would be possible to build broad support for policies, removing federal judges, including SCOTUS judges, who receive this kind of largesse, from office. The public understands judges being bribed and understands it’s wrong.

The usage of "greenwashing" (OED) showed a dramatic rise around 2021. But have you heard of "greenhushing": companies keeping quiet about climate action? That's even newer, & the topic of our first episode of a new series of Rare Earth on BBC R4 (Fri noon) & BBC Sounds. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

One very frustrating thing about being an international working and researching in another country is the inability to get grants. Most Australian grants require permanent residency or citizenship and UK grants where I am a citizen require the research to be done in the UK.
