Again this year, people volunteer their time on July 4 to stay with dogs at a shelter and keep them calm during fireworks. (I wish there were enough volunteers to bring comfort to them every day.) Here's to all the animals and those who watch over them.

At dentist today, entire office incl. patients were mesmerized by this large critter we've never seen before -- a 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿. So cool! (It was the only bright spot during visit. Found out I need a root canal and I'm nervous 😬 Scheduled appt. w/endodontist for mid July.)

We desperately need arts in schools and renewed appreciation for the arts in adults. Because the backlash over Eddie Redmayne's Cabaret performance at Tony Awards illustrates an utter failure to understand subtext. Did no one see or understand his intentionally creepy body position from the start?

Woke up at 3 a.m. yesterday because this fledgling barn owl got itself trapped on bedroom slider door screen. Used towel to remove it safely. What an experience! (I live on "owl highway" adjacent to mountain and see SO many owls.)

Tuxedo-wearing Travis Kelce being part of Taylor Swift's stage performance literally caused an epic meltdown. With all the turmoil in the world, it's good to see some wholesome, joyful surprises for a change.

I've had this cat tower (+ others) for 10 years. Linus has never been interested in any of the towers w/circular tunnels. I couldn't find him today. Searched entire house calling his name. Found him here after an hour. He's been sleeping there for 7 hrs. I forever revel in the mystery of cats 🐈
