To reiterate, the UK has just jailed five climate protesters for *discussing* a climate protest. As I've said elsewhere, this isn't just a victory for the fossil fuel industries, but for the most extreme authoritarianism.

Maryland’s Gov. Wes Moore recently issued an executive order that asks, in part, that the Maryland Department of the Environment propose zero-emission heating and clean heat standards. RAP has been working with MDE on developing clean heat standards.🧵https://bit.ly/3yZLOBd
Moore pushes cleaner home and water heating options to combat climate changebit.ly An executive order from the governor requires new standards for using low-emission electric options for new and replacement heating equipment in homes, such as furnaces and water heaters.

Electric vehicles & heat pumps are all the rage. But let's not forget electrification of industry - 90% of all process heat could be electrified" ✅driving down emissions ✅increasing efficiency ✅modernising European industry ✅avoiding volatile fossil fuel prices www.euractiv.com/section/ener...
Electrification: Europe's forgotten industry decarbonisation optionwww.euractiv.com After having spent years on hydrogen, policymakers should now focus on the direct electrification that could deliver 90% of process heat by 2035, argues a new study by think-tank Agora Industry.

Good news for the climate: internal-combustion car sales in China are in a free fall 🎢. EV sales went from 1.1m in 2019 to 8.1 in 2023, saving >20 Mt CO₂. This fundamental shift is causing factories to be shutdown or repurposed for EV's, and has made China the leading auto exporting country.
