People keeps saying that the shooting was a gift to Trump- no, the shooting was a gift to Biden because nobody’s talking about kicking him off the ticket anymore
I think moderate Rs will see Vance as a moderate because of hillbilly elegy/ivy league, and trumpy R’s will see him as a Trump supplicant because his recent election denial.
Everyone will see what they want in him because there’s nothing there to see, and the normies and crazies won’t talk to each other about it, and everyone will be happy - unless it doesn’t work.
I’m concerned this will read to normie R’s as a moderating choice (it isn’t) and read to the trumpy base as a continuation (it is) so that everybody gets to pretend they’re getting what they want.

I do unfortunately think that some Rs that might have stayed home/left the Pres. line blank rather than vote for Trump because of his scandals- are now gonna get whipped up into certainly voting for him (ignoring that it was a Republican who shot him).
