I guess they mean as an alternative to chrome in general. Switching to firefox in combination with duckduckgo search engine (there's a nifty firefox extension for it) and uBlock Origin (which isn't blocked on FF), you almost never have to interact with google in the first place which is neat
You mean bing? I use ddg as often as I can, but it isn't adequate for everything. Bing is just not a google replacement.
And I use chrome for work. Firefox doesn't have some of the integrations that make some aspects of my job easier. I used to love it, but it stopped innovating.
I love Firefox but had to switch a month or two ago because too many sites just don’t play well with it, and too many extensions I need don‘t exist for it. I wish people would remember that there are browsers that aren’t freaking Chrome, which I hate.
I'm not having 20 year old linux guru arguments, but this time about a browser.
I am aware of my needs and what is and is not available. This is not up for debate.
duckduckgo has an extension for firefox, and in addition, any ad blockers that get around youtube ads and Google bullshit aren't auto blocked on the firefox extension addons platform because FireFox has no financial incentive to give you a worse user experience
There are some userscripts to force google dot com to use the web search option. I just installed and am testing this one:

Would/could firefox be negatively influenced by Google? Like, does it utilize google/is google affecting searches? Is it totally removed from utilizing google whatevers? Im super tech/web lame.
