Why is no one talking about a vice presidential debate, given the total mastery with which Kamala Harris would reduce JD Vance to a pile of mumbling natterings?

Scenes from a short trip across town. You gotta love it when people are psyched about how they can contribute to a clean energy future. #EnergySky

Revolution should include that we feed people good food, as much as they want, and that we produce it in as ethical a manner as we possibly can.

In the future we're building, more parks and open spaces will be designed to buffer storms and storm water.
Montreal's sponge parks, designed in a way to deviate as much rain water as possible away from the sewers, have saved a bunch of areas from flooding due to Beryl's rainfall. So you get really nice parks in a major city, with a bonus against flooding. They're making more of them now and I love it
Montreal sponge parks soak up the stormmontreal.ctvnews.ca After over 100 millimetres of rain pummelled Montreal Wednesday evening, some Montreal streets saw less flooding, and sponge parks played a big part in soaking up the precipitation.

You don't have to be perfect, every bit of masking helps.
Wear a mask. Even if you just start popping one on at the store, on the metro, in meetings at work, at your job when someone else is in a mask. Any additional masking slows the spread and makes it more possible for people like me to be in public places. You don't have to be perfect, every bit helps.

Hi @hannahritchie.bsky.social - I wanted to get your book 'Not the End of the World' as an EPUB so I could read it independently on my phone, but not be beholden to Amazon or Barnes & Noble or any app. I just wanted to own it outright.

this is your regular reminder that disability justice has to be a thing because our society is thoroughly imbued—sometimes invisibly so—with ableism that devalues disabled lives. even though anyone of any community can become disabled at any time.

Regulatory agencies are full of heroes and we need to fight like hell to keep the agencies so they can protect us, our air, our water, our soil, our energy, our privacy, and our food.
Google’s emissions are up 48% in 5 years. Microsoft’s are up 30% since 2020. Those soaring figures are being driven by mass investments in data centers to power AI tools. Generative AI is a climate disaster and data center expansion must be stopped.

And so it shall be. Blessed be.
Anyway, if Swifties and the Outlander fandom ever set their minds to it, I firmly believe we’d have universal healthcare and a solution for climate change within a week.

California feeds the nation. California farming is dependent on temperate, predictable weather. California should stop drilling for oil. California's public pensions should divest of fossil fuels.
If you live in N. America, food you eat is probably grown in the orange “major heat risk” strip in California's Central Valley. The heat threatens crops, farmworkers & our entire food system. This is our planet at 1.2 degrees of warming yet California is STILL approving new oil wells. #ClimateSky 🔌💡

Lynx are magical, yet real. Let's rewild the places lynx once roamed.
Bringing lynx home to Ireland wouldn't just help revive ailing ecosystems. Sharing the land again with this exquisite cat would add a spark of frisson to our own lives, expanding our imaginative universe into new realms. Let's do this. #Rewilding 🌍

Six million users! Welcome to sunnier skies everyone! Let's gooo!
Congratulations to @bsky.app, which just passed the six million users mark. That's roughly the size of the population of the great state of Maryland. Please have some cake (crab OR Smith Island, or both!) to celebrate!

Our cat loves explosions in movies, but explosions on our doorstep are... Mildly Concerning. Still, she knows she's fully protected from bodily harm as long as she's keeps herself within the confines of this brown blanket (Summer Palace).

Voting is a great place to start, but a terrible place to stop. Show up. Make noise. Get involved.
For the record: voting matters. So does turning up to school board meetings. Community board meetings. Planning and zoning board meetings. Making public comments on pending rules. Contacting public officials. Protesting. Running for office yourself.

Nothing says #July4 like a juicy slice of watermelon. This delicious fruit doesn't just appear on our picnic table. It takes a lot of work. An average watermelon weighs 20 lbs. It's 100+ degrees in Bakersfield today. Can you imagine harvesting them in high temps? #WeFeedYou

I love, in this fraught moment, when people name what's worth fighting for. Whether it's Brooklyn in summertime, fireflies on a peaceful night, or a future that includes everyone.
I had a stressful afternoon/evening and took a long walk home to clear my headache. Then I remembered godDAMN I love Brooklyn in summertime. This is worth fighting for.

If you're a member of a political party (i.e. a registered voter), and you want to communicate something important to your party's leadership, reaching out to any federal electeds who are also members of your party (congress, senate) or any statewide official (governor) is a way to communicate
