The thing that's obvious to everyone and that nobody can actually write in the press is that the American (and yes, I'm sure elsewhere too) right wing is led by bad people and the object is to make more people extremely bad in basically every respect. It's anti-society

listen, I’m fairly open to people with a lot of views on the election, including people who say it the outcome won’t make a difference to them, but, even if that’s true for you, it will make a difference to the vast majority of people so get over your shit by November

regardless of what happens with the nomination, i will say this generation of dems--biden, pelosi, shumer, durbin, clyburn--have kindled a deep-seated hatred in me for them and their leadership, which is quite a feat given that i'm a lifelong dem who's voted, volunteered, and donated for 24 years

An aspiring dictator & convicted felon w history of treason may win the presidency. Profoundly corrupt SCOTUS justices undermined the constitution and gave him immunity from prosecution for past & future crimes. This is all political journalists should be writing about 24/7. We’re at the precipice.
I don't really know what the right answer is re: Biden dropping out, but there are many people on the internet who are acting like it's obviously smart because they personally prefer a different candidate, not because they have a convincing argument about whether it would help Dems win
This is correct and one enraging thing is that it was obvious to many people that it had to be the priority of the incoming Biden administration in 2020
really cannot emphasize enough how plainly all this proves that the first priority of the next Democratic administration needs to be democracy reform

One ridiculous aspect of the NYT now focusing all its energy on Biden's age and calls for him to drop out is that the NYT will also write articles about what a bad sign it is for Dems if he's replaced this late in the election cycle
What is so fucking infuriating about the state of US politics is that many progressive pols and journalists and writers saw these crises coming from years and years and years away and the Democratic establishment, the only people with real power to do anything, were too old and scared to act
It's a certainty that Biden and Democrats are too spineless to do it, but the obvious correct response to yesterday's SCOTUS ruling is for Biden to start using his new power as king to attack right-wing extremists
