Amazing the Olivia Nuzzi story can’t get a single person to go on the record, and the strongest evidence against Biden’s mental health is he didn’t remember her name.
Mayor: we’ve heard you, we’ve seen you protest, and I’m happy to announce that this city is replacing the Karma Police with the Karma Rapid Action Team
Amazing the Olivia Nuzzi story can’t get a single person to go on the record, and the strongest evidence against Biden’s mental health is he didn’t remember her name.
I appreciate what you’re saying, and it’s true. But this is how we Democrats beat ourselves *every time.* You’re tearing down Biden with this, and it’ll get quoted and believed.
Instead, point out the GOP is a responsible for these popular Biden policies being blocked.
I don’t think any of these have actually gone into effect?
Banning non-competes, expanding OT pay, credit card fees are all enjoined. Medicare negotiating drug prices has at least nine ongoing challenges.
You can’t just list things that didn’t happen as accomplishments.
Banning medical debt from credit reports.
Cracking down on junk fees.
Banning non-competes.
Capping credit card fees.
Negotiating drug prices.
Expanding OT pay.
These Biden policies don't make headlines, but this is what it looks like when government works for the people.
All this weird shit about “is Bridgerton normalizing mixed-weight relationships” is kind of ignoring that most TV romances are between two hot people and Nicola Coughlan is really hot
FTC non-compete ban, health discrimination rules, and now this Title IX ruling all today. All injunctions against the administration.
fwiw, I don’t think Loper-Bright changed any of these outcomes but it did make it easier for these judges to justify what they were doing to do anyway.
NEWS: Judge John Broomes, a Trump appointee in Kansas, today blocked the Biden admin Title IX rule as to Alaska, Kansas, Utah, & Wyoming — but also any school nationwide where Young America's Foundation members or the kids of Moms for Liberty go. Opinion: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Breaking news: President Biden and his senior team said they accepted the grim ultimatum they’ve been hearing from almost all quarters of the Democratic Party — to demonstrate his fitness for office or face a significant effort to force him to step aside.
I don’t think the FTC exceeded its authority, but that’s also a fair enough argument. It’s a sweeping new rule.
the idea that the rule is arbitrary and capricious is laughable, but who knows how admin law works now.
Breaking: Judge Ada Brown, a Trump appointee in N.D. Texas, has blocked the FTC’s noncompete rule, limited to the named plaintiffs, in an APA challenge as likely contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious. The rule is set to go into effect in September. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
infuriating stuff. this happens from time to time when someone doesn't like the advice they paid for. i never actually lose the dispute, but it's just maddening to have to go through the process because someone's pissy that their case wasn't a case.

Really tired of people canceling by filing "fraud" disputes with their banks over a $6 charge. I get charged $15 for each dispute, whether I win or lose.
this is full on nonsense.
nothing in Bostock depended on a "but for" standard. it was a textual ruling on the meaning of "sex."
this is fully made up bullshit.
The Biden administration cannot enforce new anti-discrimination rules in health care for transgender Americans, a Mississippi federal judge ruled, citing a recent landmark Supreme Court ruling that weakened the power of federal agencies.
just throwing things out there, but there really should be a moratorium on judges handling cases litigated by their former firm/employer for some reasonable period. two years? three years?
i would rather not haver to consider whether i want to take a case litigated by the judge's former colleagues.
The Vibes today are Very Bad and if you're out there mansplaining fascism and its ills right now after ignoring our warnings for years, I hope you have an even worse week than my own
really feel like we have not fully processed that the energy in these growing fascists movements, at home and abroad, is in the youth. this is a long term problem, even if we avoid the worst of it today.
a weird tension in using Title VII to attack alleged (but fake) discrimination is that we have decades of caselaw that basically says businesses can do whatever they want in hiring.
unless a plaintiff has really specific, behind the scenes info, it's *very* hard to win this kind of case usually.
this entire crusade against diversity in hiring and admissions is based on the supposition that all white men are necessarily more qualified than any nonwhite person or woman who might be considered for the job. like, this lawsuit more or less states that outright.
Drumroll, please... 🥁🥁🥁 My promised Bluesky Starter Pack for Arlington, Virginia! This is very much a draft first-pass including the most active neighbors in the Arlington VA feed plus a few lurkers. Give me feedback on who to add or if you want to be removed. Go ahead and test it out for yourself!
everyone needs to calm the hell down. i'm not in the biden-defending business, but he had one half of one debate that went poorly. that elected dems are talking about removing is ridiculous.
