If you're looking for a way to make life better, I strongly recommend fostering a dog or cat ahead of the 4th July holiday (and fireworks). Some shelters have programs for short term fostering if you can't commit to long term fostering.

We excavated a privy under 95 in Philly that still stank after 150 yrs. Bagged up lots of artifacts, sent back to lab. Next day, office manager opens up, smells ripe shit & calls sewer company thinking pipe burst. Nope, just our shit stinking artifacts.
