No? This highlights to remove Guns from Police. If a dog needs to be put down you call out an emergency vet to Humanely Euthanise, shooting is an extreme last resort.

There is a need to increase welfare of Animals ; this much is a known truth especially in the US (here in the UK it’s far better.) however to write as if the issue in this instance is not the Cop is disingenuous at best , and malicious at worst. Starving animals can be saved ; This is a known fact.
Avatar
Many animals make FULL recoveries from some of the most shocking and disturbing images you will ever see , they go on to live full healthy lives and die much later in life, a Sociopathic Police Officers are the problem here.
Avatar
The writer of this article should know better than this , I won’t name the individual as to not push hate toward them however this is just a blatant attempt at shielding Cops from rightful persecution for malicious acts.
Avatar
And finally ; Are animal killers like the Cop in question who YOU want protecting you? What if that Cop gets “bored” of shooting animals and goes for People, because that is what the issue is here.
Avatar
they probably wrote it this way because if the cops decide they hate you they just come shoot you or arrest your kids for resisting arrest. Personally I think if you don't want that heat you shouldn't work in journalism, but this is the Washington Post so they don't do any of that anyway.

I am not -at all- saying the deputy isn't in the wrong. But people who don't neuter/abuse/abandon dogs, are the real villains. Much easier to SAY "capture possibly aggressive dogs, & humanely euthanize" than to do it. Easy to blame a cop, but he just f'd up a solution, he didn't create the problem.
Avatar
This isn’t a case of aggressive dogs , this says Emaciated , Starving dogs. And a “what if” isn’t the solution here.

I mean . . . yeah . . . I guess so . . . but also maybe the need to address sociopathic cops who shoot and kill for kicks?

"Man gets mad at soda can left on roadside, detonates nuclear warhead in response, killing 17 million people and showing the need to address littering."
Avatar
Yeah, I don't think that's QUITE what this illustrates
Avatar
Or maybe cops not randomly shooting people and dogs for no reason.
Avatar
Or, the need for the area to send somebody OTHER THAN COPS to abandoned animals.
Avatar
What the actual fuck is this phrasing
Avatar
Who the fuck wrote this headline? What kind of psychopath shoots abandoned dogs like this?!
Avatar
Or that cops are irresponsible murderous thugs lacking ng common sense and basic humanity
Avatar
Avatar
What? That's the takeaway you want me to have? Not that it highlights the casual and almost eager way police in America shoot dogs with? And that there are hardly ever consequences for it?
Avatar
Is this the photo we really need?
Avatar
Yes. It is exactly the photo we need. Does it make you uncomfortable? You SHOULD be uncomfortable.
Avatar
I am uncomfortable. Very. But I can picture it in my head from the headline and article and don’t need to see the one time that a cop’s body cam actually worked.
Avatar
I genuinely sympathize with you, it's a shame to have to see it. I do think it's important for us, as a people, writ large, to see images like that. It helps many of us - if not most - folks accept and come to terms with things we're normally eager to ignore.
Avatar
This is the second headline I've seen in 2 weeks about a cop just butchering a dog because it was too much work to do anything else.

Avatar
Seems like it highlights the need for abolishing the police
Avatar
WTF!? Why? His life was threatened? There’s a fence between the officer and the dogs. This was target practice.
Avatar
Congrats on writing a most obnoxiously disgusting headline and failing to incriminate the dog killer sociopath cop there. 10/10, no notes.
Avatar
Does it, though? Is that what it shows? Are you sure about that one?
Avatar
Avatar
My god: am I reading this headline correctly?
Avatar
Or maybe it highlights the need for law enforcement agencies to not hire sociopaths. FFS, what is wrong with you?
Avatar
They draw from their community and guess who applies for the job?
Avatar
Avatar
A cop shoots a dog in this small Missouri town and the people there want to dismantle their two-officer law enforcement agency. A cop shoots 7 dogs because apparently he’s a kill shelter, and your headline is almost congratulating him for this brave act. What the actual fuck?
Avatar
When you go through life as a cop, the solution to everything is killing it.
Avatar
Avatar
I assume the editor is aware that summary is insane, and this is some sort of attempt at horrifying engagement bait?
Avatar
I think it highlights how cops are bloodthirsty maniacs and we should stop funding them.
Avatar
The trigger-happy, sociopathic cop issue is right there, Susan.
Avatar
Surely it highlights the need for this guy to never have been given a gun?

WaPo I know you've got one of Murdoch's bootlickers at the head now, but c'mon. Do you need to bootlick and defend a dog murderer? I know the answer is yes, but c'mon - have some kind of internal morality discussion amongst yourselves.
Avatar
This highlights the need for cops to be hit in the head with a hammer and dumped over a bridge

Police love shooting dogs. I’m sure they love shooting black men even more, but nowadays that can create trouble. Dogs? Mostly go unnoticed except from cop violence watchers.
