Yesterday a smart voter who skipped the 11th grade (US history is taught then, FYI) asked me why I was grinding my teeth as our mutual friends got excited about an open convention and I just...did not scream, curse or cry. Please clap.
My parents were talking about Biden bowing out and the Convention choosing someone and ffs they CAN REMEMBER 1968 (which I reminded them of: "oh that was different")

also: my dad climbed a utility pole to get his skull away from the cops at the 1968 convention
he was protesting the war in his Army uniform with his combat medals pinned to it
I wasn't alive then but I learned a lot from that story & its context
