“Yeah, yeah, sure, I know what he’s done to others, but I’ll be the one helper that he doesn’t try to destroy” - Huge Craven Pieces of Shit Who Never Learn
Every time I read about average differences in values between the right and left wings I hear that the right wing folks strongly value loyalty and yet!
The unspoken part, of course, is that they only value loyalty when it's coming in to themselves, i.e. "I care only that you are loyal to me, I don't have to be loyal to you in return"
It's part of the hierarchical thinking mindset very common to right wing thought and damn hard to shift
"I deal w/ the Loyal people all the time. They're the best, no one better than the Loyal people. They're clean, reliable, & get the job done every time. I see them everywhere I go, in our great restaurants, office buildings, hotels. Truly our partners in the fight against filth in this Country!"👍
Thing is, people saying this confuse loyalty with utility, possibly even intentionally. There’s an overlap, sure, but I think it’s more often the latter
I suppose I can't be surprised. I imagine that's hard to do. Have you checked out the computer game ALAN WAKE II? Apparently a lot of songs were just sheets of the writing from the game and the bands were allowed to set them to music their way.
I doubt Giorgio Moroder & Phil Oakey used stock tracks. But that boy george number is pretty standard, and his voice elevates it. He had the most beautiful voice. He opened his first solo tour with an a cappella version of you can always get what you want in the dark as warning: not culture club.
It’s going to be a horrible ride to the end but watching them all ultimately turn on each other will give the tragedy we’re about to live through at least some sense of closure
