They made a video where they praised Robert E Lee for crushing John Brown’s slave revolt that was so bad even they took it down lol It was shockingly mask off even by their standards.

You could make a really interesting high school lesson around how Douglass claimed the constitution for himself and contrast that with Taney’s understanding of the same document. But that would involve admitting that inasmuch as our constitution is at all egalitarian it is because of radical acts.

There’s always been a lot of censorship and rewriting of history surrounding the enslaved and abolitionists. I can’t tell you how many texts I’ve seen that portrayed John Brown as some kind of weirdo psycho ideologue, for instance, rather than a deliberate revolutionary. It never stops being gross.
