Alito and Roberts: We are august impartial jurists, how dare you question us or accuse us of partisanship Johnson: I talk to our guys on the court all the time, they’ll fix this whole trump conviction thing www.axios.com/2024/05/31/m...
Speaker Mike Johnson urges Supreme Court to "step in" on Trump verdictwww.axios.com Johnson said of the justices: "I know many of them personally – I think they are deeply concerned about that as we are."
Avatar
Not that it will happen but this seems like some the congressional ethics committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee should investigate as a serious threat to our judicial system
Avatar
They get ever more bold in being public about their corruption.
Avatar
Seems like he should be removed as Speaker if he does not understand the difference between federal and state laws... It's so revolting to see and hear the @GOP be such performative liars.
Avatar
So many dim bulbs in government who don't understand jurisdiction.

It's always fascinating to me how they are accusing Democrats of weaponizing the Justice system but for some reason I can't figure out, the only person they are targeting is DJT. Literally no-one else is the subject of a "political prosecution" unless you want to count Melendez and Hunter Biden

Yesterday I was "discussing" SCOTUS with a friend who truly believes the court isn't lost. I question how it can't be when the appearance of impartiality is required, yet jurists flaunt kraken-level disrespect for that appearance with pure and utter disdain. This skeet is their Christmas present.

Clearance Thomas: "How many zeros on the check?"

democrats, you could have thrown the house gop into shambles and avoided this shit by going back on your deal with him, and you didn't
Avatar
but noooo....your word to a republican is more important than getting things done for your constituents republicans play hard ball, and democrats don't
Avatar
"whaddya mean I sound like a mob boss? I'm just sayin, I know a judge, he'll fix this."
Avatar
Aren't these the guys who are normally really big on state's rights and not having the federal government intervene?
Avatar
Only Republican state's rights, duh
Avatar
Don't ask for consistency!
Avatar
Also bear in mind that Johnson is an inveterate bullshitter.
Avatar
Maybe Leonard Leo & Harlan Crow are planning a little meeting in the future. Invite only.

Seems like it's time for the dreaded "followup question" to Roberts. When thirdbranch starts asking the second branch for immunity of the first branch...
More disgusting than the crime is Johnson openly speaking about a bought court. However, Durbin's mishandling of the corrupt court tops them all.
Avatar
I am urging the Democrats to NOT step in the next time Mike's own party tries to remove him from power.
Avatar
“separation of powers”
Avatar
Yes, the entire crux of Roberts' argument for why he could not meet with Congress members in his letter to Durbin. It's all so in our face.
Avatar
You don't rise to Speaker without lying about who you know.
Avatar
These are states' rights guys except when they're not.
Avatar
I kinda think Johnson's pitch here is "don't go out and do violence, folks, the fix is in at the Supreme Court." Not that he necessarily thinks the fix *is* in, but that he's selling a line to keep folks from getting too crazy.
Avatar
🙄 🇺🇸 u don't have to ask they r already planning it ! SCOTUS ⚖️ of corruption
Avatar
So after all the "states' rights" b.s. now he wants to throw out the Constitution & allow federal courts to dictate outcomes to state courts?
Avatar
Something something two sides to every story
Avatar
Also Alito and Thomas: my wife is a lunatic in a treason cult who supports the terrorist traitors who attacked and beat cops at the Capitol and I am totes cool with that
Avatar
So which of the nine are taking his call? I don’t count 5.
Avatar
This will be making its way through the appeals courts for years, if things work normally. djt will die of old age before it's settled.
Avatar
sheez, coming on strong, buy a guy an extravagant vacation or motor home first.
Avatar
So is this just talk to show the base Republicans are "doing something" or is the Speaker really thinking the Supreme Court has this authority?
Avatar
@GOP: States’ rights (except for blue states)!
He has become very powerful and rich peddling his religion. What a crying shame! That is a lot to lay at the feed of Jesus!
Avatar
The "opposites agree" rule rears its head once again! If the Left and the Right both think the court is biased for the Right then the debate is over.
Avatar
The executive branch needs to step in and do something with our corrupt Supreme Court.

Avatar
And y’know 🤨 Not for nothing (I actually hate that expression, but hey, I used to live in Bensonhurst Bklyn) He’s such a weasely looking old conservative, sans any perceivable ethics

Avatar
What if a general strike against federal jury duty is the only thing needed to crack the impunity wall that surrounds the justices?
Avatar
Why would SCOTUS care?
Avatar
Avatar
Is this a call to give tfg absolute immunity?
Avatar
Avatar
They just can't help themselves. They *want* everyone to both know and not know that the fix is in.
