Nationalize Boeing. It is the right thing to do of course and it is also the most humane way to put the executives out of their misery however I am open to other suggestions in that area as well
NASA astronauts stuck in space after Boeing Starliner issueswww.chron.com Faulty thrusters and helium leaks have plagued the aircraft, though officials believe there's no danger to the Americans taking it home.

You can say a lot of things about the song, but not underrated.

I heard it on the radio yesterday!

ooh i hope you bopped along to it even if only mentally or in spirit (like if you were at work or something)

also i thought your shoulder feathers were a perched black kitty at first and was like WHOA - but not exactly disappointed either bc you look stunning in that fit, even if catless 😻

Thank you! We went as Death and Desire for Halloween year before last.

fair, it seems underappreciated to me in modern local US times + places sometimes ~ would be more accurate, maybe lol in any case never a bad time for a top tier bop

Boeing sending a hitman into space to kill the astronauts a la the "always has been" meme
Avatar
Door falls off and the thrusters explode on the hitman’s ship
Avatar
the thrusters backfire like a hillbillys rifle

Only tangential but I learned today that the guillotine was the official method of execution in France until 1981(!).
Avatar
Avatar
That said, the criminal negligence in favor of stock go brrrr at Boeing does bring out the Jacobin in me.
Avatar
Starting to think that THESE are the types of crimes where the death penalty would actually be a deterrent
Avatar
I believe it was a legal method of execution until then, but not being used (faint memories of high school French class)
Avatar
Avatar
The last public execution by guillotine was in 1939, after which France stopped public executions. There's actually video of it.
Avatar
That was just in time for the German occupation and Vichy France. The Nazis probably thought the guillotine was too humane.
Avatar
Ironically, the guillotinee was German.

You got me straight-up GIGGLING today. This is a good place to be. Thanks!!!

No matter what they do, the bottom line is bringing the manufacturing back in house. I know Wall St would lose their shit but all of this is because everything has been contracted out and these companies cut all quality to meet the contract. Boeing replaced everyone experienced with bean counters.

In 2001 they were warned that outsourcing would lead to problems and did it anyway. www.documentcloud.org/documents/69...

I can't believe knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing led to a suboptimal outcome.

Maybe he just needs to hit his head one more time.

Screaming maniacally as he waves the Boeing flag from a rooftop
Avatar
I suspect there are viable remedies that are less expensive: - Break up Boeing along product lines, eg. civilian and defense contractors. - Block Boeing’s acquisition of competitors. - Incentive competition and startups.
Avatar
Pretty sure using "how expensive is it" as the determinant for our next course of action is what got us here.
Avatar
For what it's worth Starliner is the first time Boeing has had to make something for NASA on a fixed-cost contract.
Avatar
Indeed, fixed cost contracting isn’t really in their DNA. I had suspected Boeing might not make large profits on the spacecraft, but I never expected it to be this late or this problematic. I am still hopeful it will yet become a reliable alternative for ISS.
Avatar
I’m pretty sure the myth of “shareholder value” along with financialization of the economy are what got us here. Throw in some poorly conceived M&A activity, and poof, out popped the mess that is Boeing.
Avatar
Clawing back the looting of NASA would make me unbelievably happy.
Avatar
NASA was set up to be looted, everything (+/-10%) was built by private contractors The change is the oversight, which has gone away. Used to be, 10 guys worked on it, 3 guys looked it over. Now it's 100 guys built it, 1/3 a guy looked it over
Avatar
And the guy who looked it over retires from the gov to get a Boeing job after his 20-30 yrs
Avatar
wait, I don't remember agreeing to be humane

Liquidate Boeing. Nationalize the oil industry, save the planet, eliminate the need to flee to space.
Avatar
Except blast musk to Mars and nationalize SpaceX.
Avatar
What did Mars ever do to you? Plus, that's a little too close for my taste. I say we send him out to Pluto for some on the ground science on the whole planet thing.
Avatar
Avatar
I mean, we don't have to set his trajectory towards any planet in particular. He needs alone time. Give him some space. 🤣
Avatar
Nationalise SpaceX and just let Boeing die
