This seems like the sort of clipping that ought to be in @paulisci.bsky.social's collection.

I have been working on this for the past two months, after growing increasingly concerned about the influence this industry is trying to exert. Did you know crypto companies have spent more this cycle than the oil or pharmaceutical industries, despite being a small fraction of the size?

When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

THE sentence of the day: A Macronist incumbent in the Marseille region came in 3rd in her seat. She just dropped out to support the left. She said, about why she's maneuvering to block the far-right: "Defeats happen, but you can never recover from dishonor."

ChatGPT already has “Ph.D.-level intelligence,” in that once you remove it from its extremely narrow field of expertise (assembling words into credible-sounding passages) it is wildly out of its depth, but people vastly overestimate its authority because they don’t understand what “intelligence” is.

I've been bitten by two mosquitoes this spring and... it's not enough. Not that I want to be bitten, but where are all the insects?!?! Is this why I haven't seen any bat's this year? What are the birds eating?

😬 Just about got skunked on an evening walk in the neighbourhood. The dog REALLY wanted to get after a skunk and her 2 babies that we came across. Close call. A few more steps and I would have found the water restrictions exceptionally inconvenient.

Geepers. Helping a teen with grade 10 English is like pulling cat's teeth. Totally possible, you know what the end result ought to look like but by heck, it's an unpleasant and painful process that you wouldn't do by choice and the best you can hope is for not too many lasting scars.

Reading posts on bluesky while eating breakfast... 5 minutes later, at the end of new posts. - "Well now what? I just finish eating and go outside to enjoy the magnificent fresh snow and the bluebird day? What am I even going to waste and regret?" This platform, I dunno.

Good grief. Could the Liberal government be more effective at tanking themselves if they tried? Maybe they should try. They're so unbelievablely inept at, well, pretty much everything, that it may actually help their prospects.
The federal government has an online "calculation sheet" to figure out your carbon-tax rebate: www.canada.ca/en/revenue-a... It's quite literally a sheet, though. Like, you can't type in it. It does no calculations. I guess you're expected to print it out and pencil in all the values?
