If a bear waited at the bottom of a tree for you to starve... it would likely starve too! With a bear or other big carnivore we can indeed climb a tree, use branches, throw sticks/stones, make noises, etc, (perhaps even speak gently??) to convince him/her to move away. No such options with a car!

New study shows "higher adherence to the EAT-Lancet diet associated with lower risks of incident depression, anxiety & their co-occurrence". That diet has a much higher share of plant-based foods than average Western diets, in order to improve planetary & human health www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Reading this: www.ecologicalcitizen.net/pdfs/epub-10..., I noticed some irrational conditionings: the idea of becoming prey to a bear or wolves feels more uncomfortable than being hit by a car, even though the latter is far more likely, at least as potentially harrowing & with no defence possible.

What’s the big deal with agriculture and climate change? 🌳 🚜 Shouldn't we be focused on stopping oil and other fossil fuels? Turns out, agriculture is responsible for as many emissions as the energy sector. For more on solutions, check out the DrawDown article:
Fixing food’s big climate problemdrawdown.org It surprises many people to learn that the food we eat, the farms that grow it, and the landscapes we’ve cleared all contribute to climate change. And contribute in a big way.Unfortunately, policymake...

Latin America boasts eight of the ten best-performing countries. Most high-income countries continue to decline. Norway and Iceland— often mistakenly regarded as sustainability leaders — have declined nearly to the level of the United States. www.aljazeera.com/opinions/201...

I have been working on a story about carbon capture for like three months because I keep thinking "it cannot possibly be THIS much of an absolute shit show" and figuring I must be missing something or misunderstanding something and then every new expert I talk to tells me it's even worse

Great tip for anyone who spends a lot of time in wild places, where there's a risk of picking up ticks: get yourself a ' Swedish Tick Lasso Trix'. They really work, removing the entire tick and leaving nothing embedded (so no risk of Lyme). Best 10 euro you'll ever spend. 🌎

One of the penalties of changing your mind about a topic is that it provokes a certain kind of glitter-eyed fanatic, who will see you thenceforth as the devil incarnate. From that day on, in my experience, they will devote a large part of their lives to hounding you. 🧵

But a few tens of thousands of years later, with biodiversity in freefall and climate change accelerating, we've clearly played our cards wrong as the risks of food security collapse keep increasing! (Choosing plant-based diets would help...)

I've voted Green. For the eels!
For my friends in England, it's election day! Happy voting to you all. Just remember: you have a long and proud history as a people who really fucking loved eels. Remember that, when you cast your vote. What would the eels want you to do? 🗃️🧪
