One of Bluesky's superpowers is custom feeds. Unlike certain other platforms where we're at the mercy of black box algorithms, we control our own timelines here. A new favourite: QUIET POSTERS, which highlights posts from those who don't post frequently, so I'm sure to see their content. 💙🦋 #kidlit

Honestly I thought it would be higher, but it's probably because it's the weekend, and because the story's still developing. I've also provided an "x-ray" view for today where you can much more clearly see the jump. I think there'll be increased activity *for a while*, though, esp. into the week.

Hi there @nickwrightdata.ntw.app what are you seeing in terms of increased posting activity? I imagine that a normal trend of activity that is being disrupted.

Found some good BlueSky data from @jaz.bsky.social bsky.app/profile/jaz....
activity still holding pretty steady at 75 likes/reposts/posts per second will probably trickle off over the next 3-4 hours as people who aren't always online check the news

I think I understand your perspective but I am going to trust the inventor of the web when he says there is a need for a greater decentralized web. He's even attended the predecessor to Dweb camp.

If it is irl then local community and friends on the lookout for the stalker can help manage the stress. Having friends and community easily/quickly available makes for a better in general, if a contact in Austin is of help lmk.

Just in case you hadn't heard, Bluesky has free algorithmic choice. You are in control of what you see here. Don't trust the algorithm, choose your algorithm. Or write your own.

Growing up I felt the same way! And I still do support my public library. I’ve also recently found that better words books has a great inexpensive selection!

Didn't realize you were a savant of government domains! Nominate them all! Those are tricky ones, the TLDs .gov and .mil are easier to identify as Gov.

Yep A site can track pretty much everything you do on their platform. There’s also tracking across websites that occurs with cookies and other unique characteristics that can lead to a larger view of a users behaviors. EFF.org is a great nonprofit that tracks and fights for online privacy

Visitor retention or marketing software companies, I believe, provide heatmaps, even reports on individual visitors replaying videos of the users window session. I’d send more info but it isn’t my field. Good luck on your research!

They could track all of what you mentioned, some of it, or none. It depends on the website and the decisions they made to protect users privacy (or not).
